BE – II/IV – III Semester (C1, C2 & C3) – 1st Internal Examination 2020
Subject – Engineering Mechanics (ES 211CE)
Note: Answer all the questions from Part – A and any two from Part- B
Part-A ( 2 x 3 = 6 Marks)
Part-B ( 7 x 2 = 14 Marks)
1. A body of 80kN weight is suspended by two strings whose lengths are 6cm and 7cm
from points in the same horizontal level as shown in fig. The horizontal distance
between the two points is 10cm. Determine the tension in the strings.
(CO.ES211CE. 1)
2. Forces 35KN, 25KN, 28KN and 113 KN are concurrent at origin and are respectively
directed through the points whose coordinates are A(2,1,6), B(4,-4,6) C(-3,-3,1) and
D(6,1,-3). Determine the resultant of the system. (CO.ES211CE.1)
3. Find the Moment of Inertia of the section about horizontal and vertical axis through the
centroid as shown below: (CO.ES211CE. 2)
