Subject: Submission of our report

Dear Madam,

I have the pleasure to submit our report titled ‘name of your report’. The
report gave me opportunity to know what kind of jobs students want to do
after their graduation from CS department of AIUB and what kind of jobs they
get in reality after the graduation.

My research was on the whole job sectors of CS and how our university’s
students are competing for those jobs. I examined many subjects including
students, ex-students & teachers of CS department of AIUB. I collected data by
both questionnaire and interview.

From the research I found out that, dream jobs of all the average CS graduates
are very different from the reality in Bangladesh. The job sector is limited in
our country but there are lots of jobs on abroad in CS sectors and in online
freelancing sectors for them.

I thank you for giving us the chance to do this report.

Yours sincerely,

Preface

In this report I tried to find out what are the jobs CS students of AIUB want

after their graduation and then what they really do after their graduation.

Mainly I did research on the CS job sectors. I compared the dreams of the

students and the reality. Also I analyzed the data based on gender, jobs etc. I

categorized the job sector of CS and made an analytical research on it. My

subjects were current senior students, ex-students and teachers of CS

department of AIUB. In my research I went to 10 students, 30 ex-students and

10 teachers of CS then I gave them questionnaire and interviewed them as

well. I collected both qualitative &quantitative data from all the subjects. From

the analysis I made a statistic report and this statistical data’s showed the

overall scenario of the job sectors of CS in Bangladesh and on abroad. Also it

will give us an idea of how many students are working on which sector, how

many of them are male and female, how many of them get their dream job

and some psychological analysis of CS students.

Acknowledgement

I am heartily thankful to our course instructor, whose encouragement,

supervision and support from the preliminary to the concluding level enabled

Abstract

The way you have learned to write abstract for a report. Use the
strategies of paraphrasing and summarizing to give an overview of
your report. What is the general purpose of the introduction,
method, result and recommendation- state these issues being not
specific in your abstract.

Ex: The purpose of this study is to investigate/to find out…….To

conduct this report qualitative/quantitative approach is followed
regarding data collection. What have you found in general from the
data? What are the major reasons for..(optional). What are the
given suggestions in general to improve the situation….
1.0 Chapter 1: Introduction

1.1 Popularity and needs of Computer Science

Computer science has become a very popular subject around the world
including our country. It’s because the world is now getting more and more
dependable on digital technology. A vast amount of students are now taking
undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in Computer Science to join this
digitalized world and build their career.

1.2 Job sectors of Computer Science

Right now the job sector of Computer Science is huge in the world. Along with
the advance technology moving forward, there are lots of field of work
creating every day. So far we can see some jobs are most popular and
demandable among all the job of CS-

1.2.1 Most popular and demandable jobs of CS

 Programmer
 Software Engineer
 Database Administrator
 Network and Computer System Analysis
 IT Specialist
 Teaching
 Other

1.3 Overview of the research report

This research report is on the CS students of AIUB who are willing to do jobs
and the jobs sectors that are available & demandable in Bangladesh and
abroad. I tried to find out the quantitative data on how many students are
doing what kind of jobs, what were there recommendations before
graduations, comparison of male and female in CS job sectors and jobs
available in Bangladesh and overseas.

I approached to 40 individual subjects with questionnaire and also interviewed

some of them personally. I collected all the quantitative and qualitative data
and made a statistical analysis.

1.4 Rationale of research report

From the analysis of this report we can come down to some factual conclusion
about all the CS graduates from AIUB. We can find out some problems and
reasons behind it from this report. This report will help us to point out the
problems AIUB CS students are facing and the reason behind it. Such as-

 What are the reasons students get detached from their dream job
 What are the main facts in order to get a good job in CS sector
 Why students are studying CS in the first place
 Why less job in Bangladesh than abroad
 Reason behind less female graduates in jobs

All this information would be much helpful to overcome all the problems we
are facing after graduation. This analytical report would be helpful to both
students and parents to choose the right path before, during and after
graduation and to build their career. This report will also be helpful to AIUB CS
department to overcome some problems and also all the big authorities can
gather information from this report to enrich the CS sectors of Bangladesh and
make our country technologically developed.

1.6 Chapters of the research report.

 Chapter 1: The introduction about the full report. What is the

report about, how I did the report and how the reason behind
doing this report.
 Chapter 2: Methodology of the report. How I did the analysis,
which method I used, why I used & how I used. Also the analysis
of data is shown in this chapter.
 Chapter 3: Findings and analysis. The resultant data and findings
are in this chapter.
 Chapter 4: The conclusion of the report.
 Chapter 5: Personal recondition based on the result of the report.
 Chapter 6: Bibliography
2.0 Chapter 2: Methodology
2.1 Method used
In this report I used both quantitative and qualitative data.
As a statically analytical report the main method I used is quantitative method.
Because I needed to made statistic on number of jobs, number of students
wanting different jobs, number of graduates doing different jobs and then
compared all the data’s. So quantitative should be used to make such an
analytical statistic.
Also I used qualitative method to survey the psychology of both students and
parents before, during and after graduation time. It helps me to identify the
problems by comparing the quantitative data’s.

2.2 Selection of subjects/participants

As this report is on the CS graduates of AIUB, all of my subjects are related to
AIUB. I took data from 10 current senior students, 30 ex-students and 10
teachers of CS department of AIUB.
The reason of choosing current senior students is, they would know what their
aim is, how they are approaching to their goal and what are they thinking
about their future profession.
The reason of choosing ex-students is, they would know better how it is differ
from their previous goal of career at present, what are the lacking’s of their
student life, what jobs they are doing now and above all a whole idea about
the job sector of CS.
Finally, I choose teachers of CS department to know how they are co-operating
and helping the students to build their career, was teaching the job they
wanted, if no then why they couldn’t achieve their goal and also to know about
the total scenario of CS job sectors.
2.3 Data analysis
I gave questionnaire to all the subjects and interviewed some of them
personally. Using those data I did some different static graph compared them
with each other.
Graph and analysis:
2.3.1 What student’s want-
The data showed that most of the students want to be a
Programmer or Software Engineer. Actually most of them think
Programmer and Software Engineer are interchangeable thus
they don’t know the difference between them. However, after
this some students are interested in Networking jobs and then
all other jobs such as IT Specialist, Data Base Administrator,
Teaching etc.
Figure: 01

2.3.2 What students get after graduation-

The scenario after graduation is really different. The shocking
fact is, actually the scenario is just the opposite. From the data
from questionnaire and interview it showed that, most of the
graduate got a job of IT Specialist, then Teaching and Networking
is the most common job. Finally most wanted profession
Programmer or Software Engineer is less to be found.
Figure: 02

2.3.3 Ratio of male and female students-

First of all, the ratio of male and female students in CS of AIUB is

about 75%-25%. From them, about 60% of female students don’t
do work or CS related work after graduation. And among all
those who do jobs teaching is the most preferable job by female
subjects from who I’ve took data. Then some female do jobs like
IT specialist and Networking. But so far I didn’t found any female
graduate to do demandable jobs like Programming or Software
Engineer.
Figure: 03

2.3.4 Job in abroad-

From the data I collected from many websites, blogs and

research, it is a great news that though in Bangladesh the job
sector of CS is not so broad but in all the advanced country’s
there is a huge field of CS. If graduates can manage to get
themselves able to get a job in abroad they will surely find a
suitable job they wanted.
Figure: 04

3.0 Chapter: Findings and Analysis

3.1 Findings

From the data taken from AIUB CS students, ex-students and teachers the
statistic result of wanting job:

Programmer 30%
Software Engineer 30%
Database Administrator 5%
Network and Computer System
Analysis 20%
IT specialist 5%
Teaching 10%

After graduation percentage of the jobs they get:

Programmer 2%
Software Engineer 8%
Database Administrator 10%
Network and Computer System
Analysis 27%
IT specialist 36%
Teaching 17%

Of those male and female who do jobs after graduation, the ratio of them in
job sectors:

Female Male
Programmer 100%
Software Engineer 5% 95%
Database Administrator 15% 85%
Network and Computer System
Analysis 30% 70%
IT specialist 35% 65%
Teaching 50% 50%
Job field in abroad:

Programmer 17%
Software Engineer 20%
Database Administrator 13%
Network and Computer System
Analysis 17%
IT specialist 14%
Teaching 5%
Others 14%
3.2 Analysis of the result

At first, from the data we can see that students are very interested in jobs like
Programming and Software Engineering more than others. From the interview
it appeared that these jobs are more interesting, very high demandable and
those who want to do something creative they want this kind of job. Then the
third job students want is Networking, which is also have demand. At the end
those who want to have an easy and simple career want to do job like
Teaching, IT Specialist or others.

But in reality, most of the students are getting jobs like IT specialist, Teaching
and Networking. Students in jobs like Programming, Software Engineering is
less to be found. From the interview, ex-students and teachers opinion, there
is couple of reasons behind it.

 Students do not take CS as a subject by their own will. Either they were
suggested by their parents, friends as it is a demandable subject or they
take it as they thought it is easy simple subject which doesn’t need any
creativity.
 Students do not want to do creative and hard work. They are more
willing to do job like Teaching because it’s simpler.
 In our country there are not much Software Firms, Software company’s
or sectors where this kind of creative jobs are found. In our country most
common CS job is IT specialist, Teaching and Networking. But there are
not enough company’s or firms to provide other jobs.
 Female students who are doing job after graduation they always want a
simpler career because of society or by their own will. That’s why they
prefer Teaching is the best profession for them. Though do jobs like IT
Specialist and Networking but most creative and highly demandable job
as Programmer or Software Engineer is not preferable by them.
 Though the international CS job sector is huge and full of jobs but not a
lot of students can easily go abroad from our country.

4.0 Chapter: Conclusion

4.1 Summary

On conclusion we can say, the main reason of the getting the job that students
want is there are not much of job sectors in Bangladesh. Also many students
are not studying CS because they like it, they are studying it as it is suggested
by others. Female students are also going for the easy and simple jobs. Then,
students cannot reach easily to the job sectors outside of Bangladesh. And
finally, all the highly demandable jobs of CS requires creativity.

4.2 Limitation

The limitation of my research is I couldn’t reach all the people who can help
me with my data. For example employee’s from different job sectors.
Also the time of research was very short to cover such a vast subject. So I
couldn’t study enough in internet to know more about international job field of
CS.

4.3 Future direction

In future if someone does this research, my advice will be to take more

subjects from different job sectors and do more study online on international
jobs of CS.

5.0 Recommendation
My recommendation to students and parents is, you have to think before you
take CS. If you want to be successful in CS sector, you have to like it and the
only way to shine in CS sector is by showing creativity.

And the Govt. along with all the big company’s should make more room for CS
jobs. Also people should open more Software Firms and creative jobs.
Graduate students should also look for job in abroad and female students
along with the society should open there mind to let them do more creative
and demandable jobs.
