Pathophysiology of Colon Cancer Predisposing Factors: Etiology: Precipitating Factors: Precipitating Factors

Colon cancer is caused by the abnormal and uncontrolled proliferation of cells in the colon. Risk factors include age over 70, a family history of colon cancer, colorectal polyps, and conditions like ulcerative colitis. Benign polyps can develop from the epithelial lining of the intestine and become malignant tumors if exposed to carcinogens and allowed to continuously proliferate over time. This uncontrolled growth leads to the development of colon cancer.
