Learning Journal Unit 2

The learning journal discusses the student's learning from a unit on Pascal's triangles and recurrence relations. The student did not previously know the recurrence relation that entries in Pascal's triangles are the sum of the two entries above. The discussion helped provide different perspectives and a clear understanding, though the student wanted more practice examples. Recurrence relations and binomial coefficients were somewhat challenging. The student feels their learning style is effective and received encouraging feedback from peers.

Learning Journal unit 2

1. What information did you not know before

- I did not know about the recurrence relation for which says that each entry in
regarding a Pascal’s triangle is the sum of two entries above it.

2. What information was contrary to what you believed

- In this topic nothing really was contrasting with what I have learnt before.

3. How was the Discussion and /or assignment helpful in mastering new information

- Had a very great discussion, sad part we had no assignment we would have learnt more of it.
The discussion brought in different understanding to the topic and conclusively the ideas
drove to a common thing. Looking at different perspectives on the topic gave me a clear
picture to this topic.

4. What, if any, material made you want to learn more about it

Right now am looking for more information or material so I can study and try out a lot of
examples. It is a very interesting topic.

5. What did you find challenging

- It was a bit challenging when I was studying recurrence relations since they were new to me.

- Also binomial coefficients became a bit challenging maybe because I studied them a long
time ago and without practice.

6. What did you realize about you and your learning style

- I still feel my learning style is fine as I am able to grasp new ideas and techniques.

7. How did you feel about the feedback you got from your peers

- The feedback from my fellow student was very encouraging and it gave me an idea that we
are learning at the same pace, which is good for me.
