Processing

Retirement and Other Claims:

- Retiree submit duly accomplished form


- LO should see that duly accomplished form signed by the retiree and signed by the
authorized signatories of the office. (Director-Division Chief)
- The form of retirement should attached a service record and LWOP
- LO submit to the GSIS LO booth 3rd level
- LO should go to the information and get the que number and wait for the que number to be
called at the LO booth
- Submit to the GSIS officer at the LO booth
- GSIS officer at the LO booth receive the application and make a TMS going to membership
department
- Membership department receive the TMS
- Membership coordinator of respective agency will receive the application/SR/SOP and TMS
issued in the LO booth
- Membership department update the service record and LWOP
- Membership department forward it to the reconciliation department for the reconciliation
and posting of loans of retiree/member is he/she has a loan
- The team leader will forward to his/her staff for posting and reconciliation
- The staff return it to the team Leader/Division Chief for approval
- From the reconciliation the documents will go to the claims department for voucher of
processing of retirement and CSV benefits
- The claim department will contact the retiree/member to submit the non pendency and
pendency form of the member/retiree
- The voucher sign by the manager of the department (if less than one million) the signatory
of the voucher only the manager and the assistant manager (if more than one million) will
sign by the manager/VP/SVP
- After the signing of the voucher the net proceed will be e-credited to the UMID card of the
retiree and the member

Note:

- 18 months-immediate pension and will go the pensioner lounge of GSIS to create his
monthly pension.
- If 5 years will wait after 5 years before going to the pensioner lounge of GSIS.

Eligibility

1. You must have rendered at least 15 years of service and must be at least 60 years old upon
retirement.
2. You must not be a permanent total disability pensioner.

Retirement Benefits Under 8291

Option 1 Lump Sum equivalent to you 6 months 5 years

Basic monthly pension payable at time of retirement BMP payable for life after the 5 years lump sum
guaranteed period

Option 2 Cash payment at old age

Cash payment to 18 months BPM payable upon retirement immediate pension payable from the
date of retirement.

Separation Benefits

- If you are ineligible for retirement benefit under RA 8291 because you did not meet the
required age at least 60 years old in service or 15 years of service you may be entitled in
separation benefit in the form of cash payment.
- If you meet only the service requirement of 15 years however you are also entitled to
pension payable at least 60 years of age you are entitled of 18 months times your BMP
payable upon separation.

Your cash payment is computed as follows

Application should be filed within 4 years from the time of separation from the government service.

You must have rendered at least 15 years of service and must be 60 years old upon retirement.

Your date of retirement or separation is prior to June 24, 1997.

Benefits

Pension: (2 Options)

Option 1: Annuity monthly pension paid annually for 5 years after with your BMP for life shall
commence.

Option 2 : 5 years lump sum the amount to be receive within the 5 years guaranteed period.

Benefits:

If qualified you are entitled to receive the following;

1. Gratuity pay or benefit payable by the last employer

Gratuity Factors
1st 20 years of service X 1 month

21-30 years of service X 1 months

In excess of 30 years of service X 2 months

2. Refund of retirement premium

These consist of your personal share with interest and government share with interest both which
are payable by the GSIS.

B. RA 660 (MAGIC 87)

Eligibility

- You must entered the service before June 1, 1997.


- Appointment status must be permanent
- At least 3 years of service prior to retirement must be continuous except incase of death,
ablotion or phase out of the office due to tor organization
- Must be 52 years of age and meet the corresponding years of service required by eligibility

Under this law may be availed by the retiree at the age of 52-57 years of service

C. RA 7699 (Portability Law)

This law apply only if:

- You must not entitled for pension benefit from either both the GSIS and SSS because you are
unable to meet the required service or number of contribution
- You must have less than 120 months of SSS contribution or less than 180 months of credible
government service (GSIS) at the time of retirement
(In computing these should be no overlapping of period of service or contribution under the
GSIS and SSS.)

The amount of benefits to be paid by the GSIS and SSS shall be proportional to the service
rendered or period of contribution made to each of them

Other Social Insurance Benefits


Survivorship:

- In the event of the death surviving spouse may file for basic survivorship pension (BSP)
which is equivalent to 80% of the BMP that you are entitled to.
- Payment of the BSP to your spouse shall discontinued incase he/she remarries, cohabits or
engage in common-law relationship.
- Your surviving children below 18 years be entitled to receive dependants pension (DP)
equivalent 10% of the BMP payable until reach of 18 years of age the grant (DP) covers for 5
children only from the oldest to youngest without substitution.
Funeral Benefits:

- This benefits is intended to help defray the expenses incidental to the burial and funeral of
the deceased member, pensioner, or retiree under any of the retirement laws.
- Your beneficiary entitled to receive the benefits
- Active member
- When separated from the service had more than 15 years of service.
- When you are already an old pensioner not a survivorship pension or a disability pension
with more than 15 ears of service.

Funeral benefits is (30,000) is paid only to:

- Legitimate spouse
- Legitimate children who shoulder the funeral expenses
- Any person who spent funeral expenses with proof documents

Disability Benefits (non work related)

- Refers to any of impaired of normal function and physical or mental faculties which
permanently or temporarily prevent a member to continue if work to engage in any of the
other gainful occupation
- Since this benefit has a prescription under RA 8291 application should be filed within 4 years
from the date of disability.

Kind of disability

1. Permanent total disability (PTD)


- Complete loss of sights of eyes
- Loss of 2 limbs or above ankle or wrist
- Brain injury
2. Permanent partial disability (PPD)
- Any finger, toe, one arm, one leg, or one or both ears.
3. Temporary total disability (TTD)
- Physical or mental faculties or restored to their normal function.
- You are entitled to the TTD or sickness income benefits under the
