Quiz no.5

Answer the ff. questions as precise as you can.

1. Considering avoidance, defusion, confrontation, which method of conflict resolution do

you prefer most? Why?

Answer:

For me, the method of conflict resolution do I prefer most is Confrontation because I do believe
that confrontation does not need to involve conflict, and able to get ready to have a conversation
that stands up to undesirable behavior in a way that feels aware to the person and to ourselves.
We all know that conflict arises from misunderstandings about: The nature, aims and objectives
of a job. However, some conflict resolution that I’ve been encountered is that they are using the
method of avoidance, most of them are relying on to avoid the conflict and make it adjustment
until they solve their conflict that why many people are not so capable use the method of
confrontation it because of some instances, such as:
 You fear confrontation due to your childhood – Something from your past makes you shy
 You fear confrontation since you fear disappointment – You don’t need to be off-base
before others
 You’re afraid you might not be liked – You’re frightened that the other person will stop
liking you, or like you a lot less, after a confrontation
 You’re outnumbered – Standing up for yourself to one other person is intense enough,
but when you’re going against a gather of people, that’s frightening
 You’re not certain in conveying your side of the argument – Maybe your speaking
abilities aren’t as great as you’d like them to be, and you’re afraid you won’t get your
point across You talk before listening – you didn’t allow your brain enough time to
handle information, and you speak before you’re ready
Generally, for me confrontation Is one of the most methods concerning resolving the conflict
because it ended an awareness and lesson to learn of each individual. And then for my least
prefer method of conflict resolution is Avoidance, because the by avoiding the conflict, you
basically imagine that it never happened or doesn’t exist. Being conflict avoidant also impacts
our relationships because we’re cutting off all honest communications with the other person.
While avoidance sometimes seems like the best way to deal with conflict, in the long run it ends
up harming our intimacy.
2. If you owned and opened three restaurants after you graduated, would you operate from
a functional or divisional structure? Why?

Answer:

I would prefer Divisional Structure over the functional structure because in a first place, through
this structure it has a clear accountability where there is a clear division of responsibility and the
same time it enrich with clarity of responsibility. It is also helps to mitigate the risk of miss
communication. Secondly, it easy to get feedback like for example in the account manager will
see the account only, housekeeping manager would take care of staff and operation manager
would take care of process and kitchen. Third, it has a departmental coordination which is an
objective accountability leads to better coordination within the boundaries of the department; it
creates a win-win situation where teams have mutual benefit in collaborating with each other,
Fourth, by this divisional structure we can develop a skills where there is individual department
one should have to govern, one can grow the skills in that particular domain with time passes.
And Lastly, it is a kind of structureb that will enable local control of local issues, and enable
higher morale, improved delegation of authority, clear accountability, and a competitive or at
least comparative climate among the three restaurants.

3. Explain how to choose between a divisional-by-product and a divisional-by-region

organizational structure.

Answer:

To choose between a divisional-by-product and divisional –by-region organizational structure, I

must rather to choose divisional-by-product Because, in this organizational structure you can
assign employees into self-contained divisions according to the particular line of products or
services they produce, the customers they deal with, the geographical area they serve. This
organizational structure may have several divisions of managers and employees. Each division
can have its own marketing team, its sales team, and so on. A manager typically reports to the
head of the company by product type, sporting goods, housewares and general merchandise. The
finance or human resources may be provided centrally. For example, In a computer program
business may divide its structure agreeing to its two particular client groups — home clients and
business clients. In such an arrangement, all employees working on the improvement, deals or
advancement of commerce computer program would in one division, whereas everybody
working on computer program for home clients would be in another.
4. Think of a company that would operate best in your opinion by a division-by-services
organizational structure. Explain your reasoning.

Answer:

For me, the best company that would operate by divisional-by-services is a kind of Departmental
store or a General Merchandise, because this structure can use a divisional organization which is
they can divide up their workers into subsets who can specialize in each of the products or
services offered by a business. Because of this divisional structure, the members of each division
will be more specialized and expert in their set areas. For example, in ER Super mall set up as a
divisional organization, those in the merchandise division would be well-versed in the
purchasing power or assigned by purchase manager, or in a sales section, technical section,
establishment section, accounts section, and also in building section, so, they're making them
more knowledgeable and better able to meet customer needs. It is generally divided into several
major sections to facilitate the smooth working of the stores. And base on the day-to-day
working, the departments enjoy also independence and freedom but all owned, managed, and
controlled centrally. It can give more concentration in one place opportunities for the satisfaction
of endless wants of the consumers.

issues affect strategy implementation in that organization?

For me, we all know that many of the colleges facing a management issues which can affect their
strategy implementation, as I elaborate the management issues of a colleges organization. I think
the issues there be in the weaknesses of the school because when it comes of their weaknesses it
involves more rival competitors, the standardize of their facilities of its institutions, and also the
organization itself. It brings more challenges to the institution to address the issues base on their
strategy to face what will be the solutions to the said issues.
