the rate of 15ft/s. An observer is standing on the ground
200ft horizontally from the point where the balloon was
released. At what rate is the distance between the observer
and the balloon changing when the balloon is 500ft high?

Question 6 (1 pt) A rope is strung from the tops of two


vertical poles PQ and ST. Between the poles, it is tied to a
point on the ground. The distance between the poles (QT)
is 16 m, the respective heights of poles PQ and ST are 10m
and 8 m. Show that the shortest length of rope (PR+RS)
occurs when the two angles that the rope makes with the
ground are equal.
