Mally MPEG-1 Audio Layer III or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III) Is A Coding Format For Digital Audio. MPEG Audio Layer 3 MP4 Video Files MPEG Layer 4 Mpeg

This document provides definitions and descriptions of various digital media formats and technologies. It explains that JPEG is a "lossy" image format commonly used for photographs on the web because it creates small files. GIF is a lossless format that maintains image quality but results in larger files. PNG is generally used for images with text or graphics on the web. The document also covers audio formats like MP3, WAV and FLAC as well as video formats such as AVI, FLV and MP4. It provides high-level descriptions of pixels, resolution, equalizers and other digital media concepts.

MPEG – Moving Pictures Expert Group

JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group (images produced by digital photography.) File
types ending in .jpg
A JPEG is compressed in a way that loses some of the image detail during the compression
in order to make the file small (and thus called “lossy” compression).

JPEG files are usually used for photographs on the web, because they create a small file that
is easily loaded on a web page and also looks good.

 GIF : Graphics Interchange Format

GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format. This format compresses images but,
as different from JPEG, the compression is lossless (no detail is lost in the
compression, but the file can’t be made as small as a JPEG).
TIFF - Tagged Image File.

 Png : Portable Network Graphics

t’s used almost exclusively for web images, never for print images. For
photographs, PNG is not as good as JPEG, because it creates a larger file. But for
images with some text, or line art, it’s better, because the images look less
“bitmappy.”
When you take a screenshot on your Mac, the resulting image is a PNG–
probably because most screenshots are a mix of images and text.

 Flv : Flash Video

 Avi : Audio Video Interleave
 Mkv : Matroska Video

 Wav : Wave form Audio File Format.

Animation is a simulation of movement created by displaying a series of images, or using

frames to create a moving picture

To support multimedia a computer should have Speaker, Sound card, Microphone.

The most common way to discover a media type is by file extension.

 Windows Media formats (.asf, .wma, .wmv, .wm)

 Windows Media Metafiles (.asx, .wax, .wvx, .wmx, wpl)
Windows media player default buffering time is 5 seconds

Pixels Short for Picture Element, a pixel is a single point in a graphic image
They are the smallest unit of information that makes up a picture.
Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. Resolution is sometimes identified by
the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image. For
example, an image that is 2048 pixels wide and 1536 pixels high (2048 x 1536) contains
(multiply) 3,145,728 pixels (or 3.1 Megapixels).

Equalizer allows to control the audio frequencies of the songs you are playing.

A play queue is a temporary track listing that allows you to easily select and sort tracks. For
those already familiar with the Winamp desktop application, the “Playlist Editor” is a play
queue.

A file format is a standard way that information is encoded for storage in a computer file. It
specifies how bits are used to encode information in a digital storage medium. ... Some file
formats are designed for very particular types of data

The basic difference between analog and digital computers is the type of data they process.
Analog computers process analog, i.e. continuously varying, data. Digital computer process
data which is binary, i.e. in the form of 0 and 1.
Analog computers operate on mathematical variables in the form of physical quantities that
are continuously varying. For example temperature, pressure, voltages, etc. The basis of the
working of the analog computers is modelling
The advantages of analog computers are that they show the solutions in a simple and
graphical manner in little time. In a digital computer the real time changes require complex
programming and graphical programs. In an analog computer the output can be connected
to an oscilloscope and results can be seen.
The disadvantages of analog computers are that they are not versatile and they are not very
accurate. The accuracy of the analog computers is rather limited and dependent on a
number for factorsFamous examples of analog computers are the Planimeter, the
nomogram, operational amplifiers, mechanical integrators, slide rules, tide predictors,
electric integrators that solve partial differential equations,
The advantages of digital computers are that they are versatile, reprogrammable, accurate,
and less affected by outside disturbances. In contrast to analog computers, digital machines
work on numbers. Each variable is converted into numbers and each number into binary
form, i.e. 0 and 1. It is this combination of 0 and 1 that does all the calculations. All modern
computers, laptops, and calculators are all digital computers.

Hybrid computers are computers that exhibit features of analog computers and digital
computers. The digital component normally serves as the controller and provides logical
and numerical operations, while the analog component often serves as a solver of
differential equations and other mathematically complex equations.
Hybrid computer is a digital computer that accepts analog signals, converts them to digital
and processes them in digital form
An example of hybrid is a car that runs on gas and electricity. An example of hybrid is a rose
that is made from two different types of roses.
Computer used in hospitals to measure the heartbeat of the patient.
Devices used in petrol pump.
