information from the patient, while doing so, the nurse should also
observe patient for non-verbal cues. Example: during an interview
the patient is guarding his or her abdomen, the patient is pale and is
teary eyed, most likely the patient is experiencing abdominal pain.

Explanation:
- When making a health education plan, try to consider the nature of
the learner so that the topics or discussion fits well with the patient.
- Example: A nurse is discussing about Diabetes to a patient who
happens to be a nurse and a patient who is a teacher. The manner of
discussion would be different as nurses has prior knowledge about
diabetes, while the other patient if it is his or her first time to
encounter about diabetes will most likely have a lengthy discussion
but even if he or she is a teacher but was able to encounter diabetes
previously will most likely have prior knowledge about diabetes. So
prior to giving health education, ask the patient first if he or she has
knowledge about the specific condition before going further.
