Rizal spent his second sojourn in Paris from 1889-1890. During this time, he lived with friends and frequented the National Library. He was fascinated by the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris, particularly the Eiffel Tower. Rizal and other Filipino artists participated in the international art competition. Rizal founded social societies for young Filipinos like the Kidlat Club and Indios Bravos. He published his annotated edition of Morga's book and wrote other historical works, establishing himself as a historian. Rizal also planned projects like a Filipino college in Hong Kong but had to cut his time in Paris short to return to the Philippines.

Sucesos with the original copy in the British Museum
