Levels To Determine Lungs Volume and Capacity:: Spirogram

A spirogram is a graphical record of lung volumes and capacity measured using a spirometer. The upward curve indicates inspiration and downward curve indicates expiration. It measures four levels - normal expiratory and inspiratory levels, and maximum expiratory and inspiratory levels - to determine lung volumes like tidal volume, inspiratory reserve volume, and expiratory reserve volume.

Spirogram:

It is a graphical record of lungs volumes and capacity

using spirometer. Upward deflection of the spirogram
indicates inspiration and downward curve indicates
expiration.

Levels to determine lungs volume and

capacity:
1. Normal and expiratory level
2. Normal and inspiratory level
3. Maximum expiratory level
4. Maximum inspiratory level

Here IRV = Inspiratory reserve volume

ERV= Expiratory reserve volume
