    Script for the STS TALK

    Back when I was a kid, Climate change was already a primary problem in our society.

    Climate change is the long-term alteration of temperature and typical weather patterns in a
    place. Climate change could refer to a particular location or the planet as a whole. Climate
    change may cause weather patterns to be less predictable.

    I’m gonna give you some facts about climate change.

    Did you know that 2016 was the warmest year on record? Followed by the 2019 year.

    Temperature increases as time goes by, 2019 was the second warmest year on record

    NASA data show that average global temperatures in 2019 were 1.8 degrees F (0.98 degrees
    C) warmer than the 20th century average. In fact, the five warmest years in the 1880–2019
    record have all occurred since.

    Next is the difficulties in maintaining or growing crops.These unexpected weather patterns can
    make it difficult to maintain and grow crops in regions that rely on farming because expected
    temperature and rainfall levels can no longer be relied on. Climate change has also been
    connected with other damaging weather events such as more frequent and more intense
    hurricanes, floods, downpours, and winter storms.

    Eleven percent of the world’s population is currently vulnerable to climate change impacts such
    as droughts, floods, heat waves, extreme weather events and sea-level rise.

    So, what can we do about these? Many ways to help our environment to avoid this climate
    changing.
    First, renewable energies, changing our main energy sources to clean and renewable energy.
    Solar, Wind, Geothermal and biomass could be the solution.

    Second is, the sustainable transportation, our transport methods must be aligned with
    environmental requirements and reduce their carbon footprint. It is essential to rethink our
    transport methods from the design stage towards eco-friendly transportation.

    Next is the Air pollution prevention, many methods exist to prevent, control and reduce air
    pollution, in particular by reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, and limiting industry
    emissions and waste.

    Lastly is the Waste Management & recycling, the simplest solution to reduce waste is to adapt
    our production methods to our consumption patterns. The recycling process must also be taken
    into account in our consumption habits.

    We are not too late to do all these things, Let’s encourage people to do this kind of activities to
    help our environment. Soon enough we will pass it to the next generation. But for now, it is time
    for us to do these. Thank you.
