(1) A glue control system show in Figure 1 (a) and represented by the block diagram shown in Figure 1(b).

(a) Using Jury test determine the the range of 𝐾 that makes the system stable.

(b) Using Matlab plot the root locus of the system on z-plane.

(c) Using Matlab plot (on the same graph) system step response with different values of 𝐾 that makes the
system (i) stable, (ii) unstable , and (iii) marginally stable.

(2) A machine-tool control system which is represented by the block diagram shown in Figure 2

(a) Design a controller 𝐷(𝑧) that achieve the following specifications:
DS1 Percentage of overshoot 𝑃. 𝑂. ≤ 16 %
DS2 Settling time 𝑇𝑠 ≤ 12 𝑠 (with a 2% criteria)
DS3 The error of due to ramp input 𝑟(𝑡) = 𝑡, must be less than or equal to 1.
(b) Using Matlab plot (on the same graph) the step response of the compensated and uncompensated system and
verify that the design requirements DS1, and DS2 were met..
