Case 2 Prod Tech

The document discusses proposed changes to well completion designs for wells in the Wumishan formation based on limited available data. It identifies wells A and F as candidates for changing from openhole to perforated completions due to their longer pay zone lengths. Well B may also be changed from a screen pipe to a perforated completion due to its larger area and thickness. Wells D, G, and E are proposed to remain as is or with minor modifications due to their thinner pay zones. Well C is proposed to remain with a screen pipe completion.

Production Technology
Case 2

Table 1 below shows the well completion data for Wumishan formation. At
present, these layers are of low production. If acidizing stimulation does not
able to increase the production rate, propose which well(s) you can change its
well completion design. Justify your answer.

A
B
C

D
E

F
G

Given the data above, one can hardly give a factual and sufficient details to
justify the selection of completion above. The following interpretation were
drawn solely from the table provided:
Generally, the most common completions nowadays are perforated mainly
because to eliminate the anticipated problems that may encounter along the
production and to the coming years of production.

 Wells were renamed A,B, C and so on, to easily describe the

chracteristics of the wells.
 Wells A,B,C,D,E and F were relatively deeper than well G with respect to
its pay zone.
 However, the length of the pay zone varies on each well.
 Wells E,D and G has thinner pay zone length compare to the rest.
 Well A and F should be change to Perforation completion because an
openhole completion for a longer length of pay zone usually has problem
like sand and as well as the unconsolidated formation in the reservoir.
 Same goes with Well B, a screen pipe may not be sufficient for a larger
are and longer reservoir thickness. As production goes by, screen piping
are prone to clogging and erosion due to sand friction because of high
velocity flow of fluids.
 Well D is as is Open hole, though relatively deeper, but the thickness is
smaller.
 Well G is as is, open hole, shallower depth means easy to control but not
always. It should be an open hole because the thickness is also smaller.
 Well E has 2 pay zones, in this case, it is highly recommended that the
completion should both be perforation to avoid associated problems.
Complexity of the reservoirs mostly accompanied with damaged reservoir.
 Well C is as is, screen pipe completion because of reasonably thickness,
though deeper, I think that screen pipe can compensate the production.
