JOURNAL

Name: Inah Krizia O. Lague Date: 11-16-2020

Topic/s: Control of Non-communicable and Communicable Diseases

What activities did we do?

We were given a prerecorded lecture with regards to the Control of Non-communicable and Communicable
Diseases and afterwards we were then required to accomplish our journal with regards to our thoughts ,
opinions and questions or quires about the topic.

What did I learn?

I`ve learned more about the communicable and non-communicable diseases especially here in our country. I also
learned about the top 10 causes of mortality here in the Philippines, risk factors of non-communicable diseases,
prevention of non-communicable diseases, four facets of mental health problems , laws affecting non-
communicable diseases , epidemiologic triangle model and the elements of chain of infection.

How does what I learned relate to the real world?

What I learned does relate to the real world in a way that being knowledgeable with regards to the communicable
and non-communicable diseases, you can share your knowledge to other people with regards to the diseases for
them to be aware and that will truly have a big impact on their lives. I do believe that knowledge is the best
source to every action that we take. Like an old saying says “prevention is better than cure”.

What did I like and dislike about the learning experience?

What I like about the learning experience is that, it feels like a review to me since we already had this topic in our
microbiology subject before . It`s truly a privilege upon learning this topic all over again since it is very crucial in
our field to be knowledgeable about this topic , especially as a future healthcare provider . It is our duty to provide
health teachings to our patients, so we must provide them with timely and valid information. As a healthcare
provider we must be up-to-date with regards to sharing information about the programs and policies on
communicable disease prevention and control here in our country. I don`t dislike anything about my learning
experience.

What questions or concerns do I have about what I learned?

I don`t have any questions or quires about what I learned.

What would I like to learn more about?

I would like to learn more on those specific communicable and non-communicable diseases that were mentioned
on this topic.

How might what I learned help me in the future?

What I learned might help me in the future in doing health promotion and disease prevention programs since I
already have knowledge on the specific diseases that we should focus on.
