Observation Task 2: Teaching A Phonics Lesson

The phonics lesson focused on teaching the letter Y sound. The teacher engaged students by having them make "yaay" sounds with their mouths and raise their hands. Students watched themselves make the sounds in a video and practiced writing the letter. The teacher had students find objects starting with Y and say their names. While students were engaged with activities like sounds and writing practice, the teacher could have used additional active engagement activities to help learning, such as sending home work or having students record themselves.
