Octopus Set-up

1. Check your LinkedIn profile


a. Does it display your job title correctly?
b. Is your profile picture clear and appropriate?
c. Have you linked the website?
2. Download the Octopus google chrome extension
3. Divide targeting amongst yourselves (DON’T TARGET THE SAME LISTS).
a. Ensure that the same people are not being messaged by different members
of the same team. This can affect our credibility.
4. Open LinkedIn Sales Navigator
a. Define your targeting: key companies, locations, keywords, technologies
b. Create a saved search with max 1500 contacts in it (you filter until you get
that number).
5. Click on the Octopus CRM chrome extension
a. Sign up for 7 day free trial with LinkedIn login details.
b. Now you have your list saved and open in the browser, click on the Octopus
CRM button on your chrome bar.
c. Make sure the connect button is white.

d. Create a campaign using conventions such as - MULE SEP CXO etc.


(Something that matches the filtering you have used).
e. How many profiles to send: if you have 1k+ results enter the number 1500. If
you have less, enter the exact number.
f. Click send to CRM.
g. DO NOT close LinkedIn while importing (this process may take an hour or so,
depending on amount of contacts imported.)
h. Scroll down in chrome extension and click “CRM”.
6. The CRM Dashboard will open - go to CONNECT when contacts are finished
importing. It will look like this (but there will be a list of contacts displayed):

7. Now go to MESSAGE on the left hand side. Click create in the top right corner
and name the campaign the same as the connect campaign.
8. Go back to CONNECT and click on Tools in the top right hand corner, it will
look like this, but you will see your message campaign listed under “Link
Campaigns”:

9. Select your message campaign and click Save.


10. Go back to CONNECT and enter your connection request message. An
example is here:
Hi *FIRST NAME*,

I see that you are interested in XXX and as I work for a XXX partner, I thought it
would be good to connect.
Thanks,
XXX
11. Now go to MESSAGE and enter your connection acceptance message. An
example is here:
Hi *FIRST NAME*,

Thank you for accepting my connection request, I hope you are well. I work for
WHISHWORKS, an XXX partner and reseller. I think our services may be of interest
to you. Are you available for a 5 minute chat some time this week?

12. Now go back to CONNECT and launch 100 contacts. You can only send 100
contacts per day. One campaign may take 15 days to get through sending.
13. When someone accepts your request you will see a number appear next to
MESSAGE. It is up to you to then launch that number in the MESSAGE tab.
This sends the linked message we wrote earlier.
14. Keep track of your calls, leads and prospects with this spreadsheet template.
