b) Determine the median value for the frequency distribution.


c) Determine the sample standard deviation.
d) Plot a frequency histogram.
e) Determine the skewness value for the above plotted frequency histogram.

Question 5

At an automobile testing ground, a new type of automobile tested for gas


mileage. 7 cars, a sample of a much larger production run, were driven under
typical conditions to determine the number of miles per gallon the cars got.
The following miles-per-gallon readings were obtained:

(a) Calculate the average and sample standard deviation.
(b) The investigator want to determine if the data gathered in thier sample are
skewed.
(c) If the engineers compared these data with prevoius day’s test. Where the
kurtosis was 0.02 and those data spread more broadly than these data. Give
comments on these following data.
