1. SCOPE OF WORK:
This method statement shall cover the Installation of Fire Alarm System. This procedure is in
conjunction with the relevant ITP (Inspection Test Plane), outlining the responsibility and the quality
verification and as per site specifications & standards. This method of Statement includes the following
installation procedures:
a. Project Manager
b. MEP Manager
c. Electrical Engineers
d. Warehouse Controller
e. Q.C Engineer / Inspector

5 RESPONSIBILITIES
a. The project team of experienced Supervisors and Foremen shall ensure the quality of
the installation work carried out, and shall also ensure that it is as per the latest
approved construction shop drawing issued for installation and contract specification.
c. The work shall be carried out under the supervision of Foremen. The Engineer will
monitor the quality / work progress. The Engineer shall be responsible for the overall
quality of the work and the progress.
d. The Project Engineer shall inform QA/QC Engineer, the readiness of the installations
at site. The installation shall then be further checked and approved by the QA/QC
Engineer.
e. The QA/QC Engineer shall raise all inspection and test reports on the appropriate
forms to carry out the required tests.
f. The QA/QC Engineer shall co-ordination with Main Contractor QA/QC Engineer to
arrange inspection for installations, by the Consultant.

g. The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for getting the work inspected / approved
by the Consultant.
7. PROCEDURE:

1- 2.5mm2, 2 cores, sheathed fire resistant fire alarm cable, 105 oC are used
for cabling the Initiating Device Circuits (IDC) to the panel.
2- 2.5mm2, 2 cores, sheathed fire resistant fire alarm cable, 105 oC are used
for cabling the notification circuit.
3- 1.5mm2, 2 cores, sheathed fire resistant fire alarm cable, 105 oC are used
for cabling the fire fighting telephone circuits to the panel.
4- 2.5mm2, 2 cores, sheathed fire resistant fire alarm cable, 105 oC are used
for cabling the speaker circuits to the panel.
5- Sounder bases, speakers with Strobe Lights are provided with additional
24 VDC power supply using 2 core 2.5mm2 fire rated cables.
6- Check the installation of fire alarm system cables for proper laying,
termination, clipping, labeling and identification.
7- Check cable connections to the FACP, battery, sub-panels.
8- Check insulation resistance between cores with a 500V megger or as per
consultant recommendation.

7- Terminate the fire rated cable at control panel & Strobe Light & Sounder
Unit.
8- Remote Indicator Lamp should be provided outside the rooms which are
usually closed like Electrical Rooms, Machine Rooms, Pump Rooms,
Telecommunication Rooms, and MV Rooms etc. to show Fault Indication
in case of emergency.
8. INSPECTIONS:
1- Raise WIR (Work Inspection Request) of all activities done on site, rectify
all the comments raised by consultant and get approval of work.

10. SAFETY:
1- The working area shall be cleaned before other activities.
2- The designated Safety Officer will be stationed at the work site.
3- The working area shall be sufficiently illuminated & fresh air shall flow.
4- Toolbox talks to be conducted on daily basis.
5- All works shall be made aware of the activities being carried out and
emergency response plan.
6- Critical activities (i.e. heave lifting) shall be carried out in presence of
safety officer.
