NOTE: To release the pressure in the attachment cylinders, carefully loosen the two large plugs
near the plugs at the top of the loader frame. When the oil from the loosened plugs stops draining,
tighten the two large plugs.
4. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The
capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 88 liters (22.9 U.S. gal).
6. Remove two nuts (3) and the washers that hold supplemental steering pump (1) in position.
Remove supplemental steering pump and gasket from the transfer gear case.
NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the supplemental steering pump.
7. Check the condition of the gasket used between the supplemental steering pump and the transfer
gear case. If the gasket is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
9. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual
for the correct filling procedure.
10. Separate the steering frame lock link. See the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock
Link" in this module.
2. Put an alignment mark across the body and flange assembly of the pump so the parts can be
reinstalled in their original positions.

14. Remove isolation plates (21), sealing strips (24) and retainers (23) from the pump housing.
15. Remove O-ring seals (22) and the back-up rings from the pump housing.
NOTE: For information concerning hydraulic pump failures, see "Analyzing Tyrone Pump
Failures", Form No. FEG45137. For information concerning parts reusability, see Special
Instruction, "Installation Of Wear Sleeves For Repair Of Groove Wear Caused By Lip-Type Seals,
Form No. SMHS6915.
1. Check the condition of all parts in the supplemental steering pump. If any of the parts are worn or
damaged, use new parts for replacement.
2. Be sure all parts of the supplemental steering pump are clean and free of dirt and debris. Put clean
hydraulic oil on all parts of the pump during assembly.
3. Install back-up rings (1) and O-ring seals (2) in the pump body.

4. Photo B93657p1 illustrates how isolation plates (3), sealing strips (5) and retainers (4) are to be
installed.
5. Install isolation plates (3), sealing strips (5) and retainers (4) in the pump body as shown. Be sure
that the side of the isolation plates that have the round edge around the outer radius, face down
when installed in the pump housing.
NOTICE
6. Carefully slide pressure plate (6) into the pump body in its original position. Install the pressure
plate with the bronze side facing up. The bronze side will be facing toward the gears in the pump.
NOTICE
Do not idler gear (8) or drive gear (7) fall into position in the
pump body. Damage to the bronze face of pressure plate (6)
will result.
7. Carefully install idler gear (8) and drive gear (7) in their original locations in the pump body.

8. Carefully slide pressure plate (9) into the pump body in its original position. Install the pressure
plate with the bronze side facing down. The bronze side will be facing toward the gears in the
pump.
9. Install isolation plates (10), sealing strips (12) and retainers (11) in the pump body as shown.
Isolation plates (10) have the same type of edge on each side of the outer radius and can be installed
either way.
10. Use tooling (A), and install lower lip-type seal (15) in the bottom of the bore in flange (16). Be
sure the lip of the seal faces down toward the inside of the flange as shown.
12. Use tooling (A), and install outer lip-type seal (13) in the bore of flange (16). Be sure the lip of
the seal faces down toward the inside of the flange as shown.
NOTICE
Be sure the oil passage hole in the flange is clean and free of
dirt and debris before plug (17) is installed in the flange.
