Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that cause respiratory illnesses in humans and animals. The ongoing 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak is caused by a new strain called COVID-19, first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. As of March 2020, over 93,000 cases have been confirmed. Coronaviruses can transmit between animals and humans; past strains like SARS and MERS have animal origins. While most coronavirus infections cause mild cold-like symptoms, rare strains can lead to pneumonia and death. There is currently no vaccine, though basic hygiene and avoiding contact with infected individuals can help prevent the spread of the virus.

Coronaviruses
are a group of viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans,
coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that are typically mild, such as the common cold, though rarer forms such as SARS, MERS, and COVID-19 can be lethal. The 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak is an ongoing public health emergency of international concern involving coronavirus disease 2019. ] It was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei, China. As of 4 March 2020, more than 93,000 cases have been confirmed, of which 7,100 were classified as serious. Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans. Coronavirus infections are common and typically lead to the common cold. Gastrointestinal disease is possible for young infants. Symptoms are usually mild to moderate and can include: runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, fever, a general feeling of being unwell. Although rare, other types of coronavirus infections cause illnesses such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) can produce more severe illnesses such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, kidney failure, or death. If any one have cold-like symptoms, any one can help protect others by doing the following: Stay home while sick Avoid close contact with others Covering mouth and nose with a tissue when any one cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash hands properly. Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces Coronavirus infections are diagnosed by a health care provider based on symptoms and laboratory tests. For now, there is no specific treatments for most people with coronavirus infection. Most people with common coronavirus illness will recover on their own. There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. People prevent this virus by following this- 1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. 2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. 3. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. 4. By washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing nose, coughing, or sneezing. 5.
