Dead Poets Society: Exposition/Introduction - It Was The Start of The Semester and They
Plot
Exposition/Introduction - It was the start of the semester and they
were gathered together to welcome all the students for the start of another
semester. The students were so excited to see their classmates. Mr. John
Keating was being introduced to them as the replacement of the teacher
who retired last term. He was been teaching at the highly regarded Chester
School in London for several years.
Rising Action – It began when Mr. John Keating was teaching poetry.
He taught his class the essence of poetry in their lives. He told his student to
read a poem which entitled “To the Virgins to Make Much of Time” and the
first line of it was “gather ye rosebuds while ye may”. He discussed it and
told that “Carpe diem “was the Latin term for that sentiment which means
“seize the day”. Thus, he related it to the life of everybody that they should
make their lives extraordinary.
Climax – It reached to the point when they know what the Dead Poets
Society means. Neil Perry
Todd Anderson, Knox Overstreet, Charlie Dalton, Richard Cameron, Steven
Meeks, and Gerard Pitts gathered together and they formed again the Dead
Poets Society. Their purpose was to read a poem and experience the beauty
of poetry. Then it came when Neil joined the theater but his father opposed
to it. His father did not want him to join but still he did what his will told
him.
Message – We must “seize the day” and let us make our lives
extraordinary. We should do what we really want to do.
