SUMMARY:

According to Archana and Usha Rani (2016) the teacher’s job is to convince the student that
education fulfills the need and learning in the classroom. The teacher has to think from the
learners’ perspective before she plans to interact with the students. A teacher as a facilitator
should support students in learning for themselves as a self-explorer. Besides, a teacher should
also give continuous feedback as an assessor. Teachers also has to plan in advance regarding
handling the classes. Moreover, a teacher should make true and fair evaluation as well as focus
on the areas of competence of the students.

ESSAY:

KUIPs is a nickname for Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis. KUIPs was established on 17 June 2013. KUIPs
is committed to being one of the leading Islamic-based institutions of higher learning in the ASEAN
region. KUIPs can form graduates who are competitive and able to produce coordination, initiate
transformation towards the progress and excellence of the dunya and hereafter. In my opinion,
KUIPs is a great educational institution as it is the only Islamic college in Perlis, stresses on the
importance of co-curriculum activities, has wholesome courses and incorporates outside activities
as well in order to produce well rounded students.

KUIPs is the top Islamic Education Institution in Perlis because KUIPs is the only Islamic college in
Perlis. KUIPs is unique because it has 7 pillars that student must complete before graduation. KUIPs
is different from other education institution such as UITM, UNIMAP and other education
institutions. The 7 pillars in KUIPs are important to Muslim nowadays and not everyone is given the
opportunity to experience. There are 7 pillars in KUIPS which are prophet’s sport, memorizing surah,

human capital, uniformed bodies, life learning skills, entrepreneurship and public speaking. Some
of the 7 pillars are the Islamic based for example prophet’s sport, memorizing surah, human capital
and public speaking. KUIPS stresses these 7 pillars to the students because they emphasize on the
importance of Sunnah.

Furthermore, beside academic, KUIPS also stresses on the importance of co-curicular activities
which are Taekwondo, Red Crescent Society, JPAM, Silat and others. All students need to choose
one of it and take it for two semesters. I choose taekwondo because I want to learn how to protect
myself and my family especially. Taekwondo is a martial art and among the healthy sports. In
addition, taekwondo focuses on the spirit of grouping and cooperation emphasized in training. It
can also help the students to establish a close relationship with each other.

Another reason I think KUIPs is the top-tier institution in Perlis is because I think the courses that I
am taking is a wholesome course. The course provides subjects that are informational and the
course introduces lectures that helpful and understanding. Besides that, throughout this course, I
have met amazing friends. We work and discuss together for our assignment and tasks.

In addition, KUIPS always recommend many extra activities for all students in KUIPs such as forums,
talks and congregational prayers that preferred to all boys. Every time KUIPs held a program such
as forum or talk, they will invite special guest to give the talk to all students. These extra-curricular
activities mean that KUIPs does not only focus on dunya but also focus on the hereafter. Forums
and talks are so helpful for students because we can gain so many knowledge and experience for
our life and academic.

In conclusion, studying in KUIPs not only focuses on academic but also many other aspects. In my
opinion, although KUIPs is newly introduced, it provides the students with a lot of benefits. I strongly
agree that KUIPs is one of the leading Islamic education institutions because of its uniqueness, co-
curriculum activities, wholesome courses and outside activities that balance academic and non-
academic matters.
