What is your concept
of human flourishing?
Eudaimonia, which means ‘good spirited’ is a
term coined by Aristotle to describe the
pinnacle of happiness that is attainable by
humans.

Aristotle’s human flourishing arises as a

result of different components such as
phronesis, friendship, wealth, and power.
At present…

Humans are expected to become a “man of the world”.

He is supposed to situate himself in a global neighborhood, working side by side

among institutions and the government to be able to reach a common goal.

Competition as a means of survival has become outdated.

Coordination is the new trend.

Development Growth

Sustainability

To address this issue, Joseph Hickel suggested developed countries should not
push forth more growth but instead adopt de-development policies.
The two widely embraced definitions of TECHNOLOGY are as follows:
▪ Technology is a means to an end.
In this context, technology is viewed as a tool available to individuals,
groups, and communities that desire to make an impact on society.
Technology is an instrument aimed at getting things done.
▪ Technology is a human activity.
Technology can also be defined as a human activity because to achieve an
end and to produce and use a means to an end is, by itself, a human
activity.
Martin Heidegger, urged people to
envision technology as a way of
revealing, as a poiesis (bringing forth).
Modern Technology
Heidegger considers modern technology’s way of revealing as
challenging forth. It makes people think of how to do things
faster, more effectively, and with less effort. It prompts
people into dominating the Earth’s resources and controlling
nature.
Do you think humans at
present are swallowed
by technology? What
are the dangers that
come with it?
