Hands - On Report: School of Science - Department of Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology at the School of Science organized a hands-on activity via Zoom for third semester BSc. BT students. Professor Dr. Rashmi Sharma demonstrated and explained the Widal test, allowing students to gain insights into human immunity. The students learned about typhoid fever transmission and consequences, motivating them to maintain hygiene. They were eager to apply their knowledge and found the demonstration helped explain complex ideas like agglutination and the immune response. The session helped students strengthen their practical understanding.

HANDS – ON REPORT
SCHOOL OF SCIENCE – DEPARTMENT OF
BIOTECHNOLOGY
The Department of Biotechnology organized hands-on activity for the
students of BSc. BT 3rd Sem via Zoom. Widal test was performed by professor Dr. Rashmi Sharma during this activity which allowed the students to gain deep insights in understanding human immunity.
The WIDAL test is a serological method to diagnose enteric or typhoid fever
that is caused by the infection with pathogenic microorganisms like Salmonella typhi. The students learnt about the modes of transmission and consequences of the typhoid fever hence motivating them to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene. The students were keen to learn and see the practical uses of the knowledge gained till now and found it easier to understand the complex ideas of agglutination, the human defence mechanism, the antigen- antibody interaction. They also got to dive deeper into concepts and learn about the second and third line of defence mechanisms.
Overall, it was an informative session helping students expand their practical
