● Before we start may I ask Trisha to Angel of God…..
lead a prayer

B. Checking Attendance
● Everyone is present? Yes teacher

C. Review
● Before we begin our lesson for today,
we conduct a review about our last lesson
yesterday
What is the lesson yesterday that we Order operations on whole numbers
tackled?

Order operations also known as? PEMDAS

Very Good!

What is the meaning of PEMDAS? P- parentheses

E- exponents
M- multiplication
D- division
A- addition
S- subtraction

D. Preparatory Activity
i. Activity
● Before we proceed to our
discussion I have here a box that contains
100 blocks
● The box shows the 50 out of 100
blocks is shaded

50 over 100
What is the fraction of this?
50/100
“Please right on the board”
Why 100 is the denominator?
● It is because 100 is the total number of
blocks in the box

Why 50 is the numerator?

● It is because 50 is the part that shaded
Divide 50 by 100
How to convert the fractions into decimals?

Yes! We need to divide the 50 by 100 to get

the decimal value of 50/100

.5
500
100
Who wants to solve on the board?
- 500

●What did you notice to our activity? Dividing numbers to get the decimals
value of a fraction

Yes that’s correct but now we focus on the

decimal numbers.

iii. Presentation
●I have a video here to let you know
about what I’m going to teach you today, so
you can get an idea about to our lesson.

iv. Abstraction/Discussion
● Our topic for today is all about
multiplying a decimal numbers.

●Now! We identify the meaning of

decimal numbers.

What is Decimal Numbers?

Decimal Numbers
Is a number with one or more digits to the
right of the decimal point. 0.87, 7.15, 0.5………

Give an example of decimal number

based on our activity

● Numbers to the left of decimal point would

stand for Whole numbers and numbers on
the right side would indicate the Fractional
part.
1.5 – 1 is the Whole number and the .5 is
the Fractional part.

I have a table here that will help us if we

read the decimal numbers.

1. Read the number from right to left of

decimal point.
2. There is no one’s place value in the
left of decimal point, you begin at tenths.
3. The decimal point would say “and”
Read the following 4. Add a ths to the end of the number.

1. Read the number from right to left of

decimal point.
2. There is no one’s place value in the left of
decimal point, you begin at tenths. Two and five tenths
3. The decimal point would say “and” Zero and forty-five hundredths
4. Add a ths to the end of the number One and five hundred sixty-seven
thousandths
For example: 1.63 One and sixty three
hundredths

Who want to read this?

0.45
1.567

Very Good!
0.3 and 0.5

● Multiplying decimal is very similar to

multiplying whole number. 1. Line up the numbers – do not align the
decimal points
Now we try to multiply the two decimal
numbers in our activity while ago.
What is the two numbers? 2. Starting on the left, multiply digit in the
top number by each digit in the bottom
Steps: number, just as with whole numbers.
1. Line up the numbers – do not align the Ignore the decimal, multiply like normal.

How many decimal places are in first factor?

Between 0 and 1
How many decimal places are in second
factor? 0.15

So, there are 2 decimal places

Now count 2 from the right to the left

Where the decimal point should be placed in

this product?

What is the answer?

Very Good! The amount of sales the shoe store had

for the day/How much was the total
We proceed now in Problem Solving sales for the sneakers sold?

A shoe store sells different kinds of shoes. 25 pairs of sneakers were sold at 105.55
One day, it sold 25 pairs of sneakers at pesos
105.55 pesos a pair. How much was the
total sales for the sneakers sold?

What is asked?

What are the given facts? 2,638.75 pesos

Use multiplication to find the total amount for

which the 25 pairs of sneakers were sold. ●Decimal numbers is a number with one
or more digits to the right of the decimal
Try to solve on your scratch paper point.

What is the answer? ●Sign for multiplication is times (×)

Very Good! ALWAYS TO REMEMBER IN

MULTIPLYING DECIMALS
