1.why is guidance program an integral part in the educational system?

It provides for the holistic development of the students. Education and guidance support and
compliment each other to maximize student's growth and development. Administrative and faculty
understanding and support to the Guidance Program are crucial to its success. Guidance personnel
perform specific task distinct and separate from teaching and disciplining.

2. Explain briefly "guidance program should be responsive to the needs of the students"?

Guidance Program addresses the developmental and adjustment needs of the students. The Program
considers the unique culture and climate of the specific population and environment it serves. The
program offerings are based on regular, systematic assessment of the students' needs and environment.
Guidance is a process throughout the person's stay in school. Guidance activities are specifically planned
and develop to ensure Program effectiveness. The Guidance team consists of the school counselor,
psychologist, social workers, teachers, administrators and other professionals and staff who work
together for the welfare of the students. The guidance program recognizes the need to provide
objective evidence of accomplishments and the rationale for its continued existence

3. Explain further the guidance program should recognize students as an individual.

Every individual has needs that must be attended to. Guidance should extend to all. Every individual is
unique and possesses worth and dignity. Human beings can develop their own insights. All individuals
have the right and capability to make decisions and plans.

4. Why is it the guidance counselor is the most indispensable figure in the guidance program?

As counselors and educators, school counselors help a student population to process what's going on in
school and at home, and to develop academic strategies to help them be successful now and in the
future. school counselor is one of the best investments a school can make. High school students who get
in touch with their guidance counselor are significantly more likely to apply to college and subsequently
get a degree.2 In high-poverty areas, decreasing the student-to-counselor ratio had measurable
academic and behavioral outcomes. School counselors have been shown to increase the percentage of
minority students who qualify for Advanced Placement classes, and even at the elementary school level,
school counselors implementing robust, data-driven counseling programs have demonstrated significant
academic improvement over similar schools with no such programming. Most importantly, there is a
direct link between school counselors and college readiness. school counselors act as point persons in
times of crisis. School presents many challenges to students, and when they respond in ways that impact
other students negatively, it's the school counselor who will help to open conversations and guide
students toward mutual understanding and trust. In the event of a crisis, school counselors can work
with students on processing their emotions and pursuing peace
5. Why is it important that guidance program should be handled by qualified personnel?

It is important. Because they also develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs that
focus on student outcomes. Through direct student services, school counseling programs and their
counselors provide Core School Counseling Curriculum. It means that lessons that are designed to help
students achieve competencies, knowledge, attitudes, and skills appropriate to their level of
development. Individual Student Planning, activities designed to assist students in establishing goals and
developing their future plans. Responsive Services, meeting the immediate needs and concerns of
students in both individual and small-group settings or crisis counseling. They are also involved in
student evaluation of abilities, the identification of issues that impact school participation, and prepare
and present workshops on certain topics such as bullying and drug abuse.
