1. The switch in fig(1) has been in position ‘a’ for a long time. It is moved to position ‘b’ at
t=0. Obtain the expression for i(t) for t>0. [0.25+𝑒 −2𝑡 ]
2. In the fig(2), s/w is closed at t=0. Find the time when the current from the battery
reaches to 500 mA. [5.2 msec]
3. The circuit of fig(3) was under steady state before the s/w was opened at t=0.
Determine Vc(0-), Vc(0+), i(0+).
4. In the circuit of fig(4),R=5 Ω, L=1H, Vs= 48 V, determine
𝑑𝑖
a) The expression for i(t),VR(t), vL(t), [48(1-𝑒 −5𝑡 ), 48𝑒 −5𝑡 , 48𝑒 −5𝑡 ,]
𝑑𝑡
𝑑𝑖
b) at t=0+. [48 A/sec]
𝑑𝑡
c) The time at which VR = vL. [0.1386 ]
d) The resistance is decreased from 5 ohm to 4ohm at t=0.5sec,determine t(t).
Assume iL(0-)=0. [12-3.088𝑒 −4𝑡 )]
5. A 50 Hz, 300 V (peak value) sinusoidal voltage is applied at t=0 to series R-L ckt with
R=2.5 Ω and L=0.1 H. find the expression for the current i(t). Also calculate the value of
the transient current , steady state current and resultant current 0.01 sec after
switching on. [7.39 A, 9.49A, 16.88A]
6. An exponential voltage v(t)= 4e-3t is applied at t=0 to an R-L ckt with R=0.5 Ω an L=0.25
H. obtain the solution for i(t) through the ckt. Assume zero current through the inductor
before the application of voltage. Also find the time for the maximum value of current
and the maximum current. [16(𝑒 −2𝑡 -𝑒 −3𝑡 )]
7. The s/w in the ckt of Fig(7) has been closed for avery long time. It opens at t=0. Find the
Vc(t) for t>0. [12-2𝑒 −𝑡 -t𝑒 −𝑡 ]
8. In the ckt of fig(8), the s/w is initially closed for a long time. The s/w is opened at t=0.
Find the differential equation relating iL(t) with V and also evaluate the initial condition.
9. In the given ckt of fig(9) with s/w closed steady state condition is reached . Now at t=0,
s/w k is opened. Find the expression for the current iL(t) through the inductor.
[5cos(1000t)]
10. In the ckt shown s/w is in position ‘a’ for a long time. At t=0,it is moved from ‘a’ to ‘b’.
Find the expression voltage v(t). Assume the initial current in 2H inductor is zero.
