Course Management
The UCC follows criteria and procedures to evaluate proposed courses and curricula in
terms of their contributions to the objectives of the university and the needs of the
state.
When reviewing course proposals, please consider the following:
 Does the course number align with the university’s course numbering policy
o Is the course an internship, problems course, etc.
o Check for alignment with ACGM:
http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/AAR/UndergraduateEd/WorkforceEd/acg
m.htm
 If course aligns with one listed within the ACGM then the course
will need to be proposed as the same course within the ACGM
• Same Course Title
• Same Course Number
• Same Course Description – may vary, slightly
 Does the second digit of the course number display the correct number of
credit hours awarded
o Reference Curriculum Manual (variable credit courses will have a zero as
the second digit)
 Does the course include measureable student learning outcomes
o All courses are required to have knowledge and skill outcomes
o Writing Intensive courses are required to have writing outcomes
o General Education courses are required to have core curriculum
objectives
o Reference Bloom’s Taxonomy
 Does the course description align with the course title
 Is this course replacing an existing course
o If so, is the existing course listed as an equivalent
o Is the existing course being deactivated
o Was the existing course replaced, with the new course, within any
degrees
 Were other departments consulted about this change
 Do we currently have any other courses that resemble this course
o Same course prefix and number (CourseLeaf should prevent this from
happening)
o Same course title
 If course is designated as ALE, General Education, Educator Prep or
Developmental, are the correct radio buttons selected
