PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2

STEPHEN JAMES LIZA 12 HUMSS-E

Activity 1:
1. How important are the inquiry, investigation, and
immersion in doing actual research?
The Inquiry, Investigation, and Immersion is very
important because you cannot start or make a
research without doing this three.
2.Define research. What is its importance in
improving people’s quality of life?
Research is a systematic rigorous investigation of a
situation. Research is an invaluable tool for building
on crucial knowledge, it’s almost the most reliable
way we can begin to understand the complexities of
various issue; to maintain our integrity as we
disapprove lies and uphold.
3.Expound the statement “RESEARCH START WITH
A PROBLEM AND ENDS WITH A PROBLEM.”
The statement means in able for you to start a
research you must have a certain problem to study
about. And as you study it, there are limitation in
your study and you discover something new about
the topic, there will be always a new problem that
will pop out.
4.Explain in Detail the steps of conducting a
research.
There are seven steps in conducting a research first
is define and develop your topic. Second find
background information about your chosen topic.
Third plan your design including sample. Fourth is
Gather information using Open-ended Question
(For Qualitative Research) and Close-ended
Questionnaire (For Quantitative Research). Fifth
Process and analyze data using thematic analysis
(for qualitative research) and statistical tools (for
quantitative research). Six Formulate new insights
gained (for qualitative research) conclusions (for
quantitative research) and recommendations. And
lastly Define New Problem.
5.Give me the two Characteristic of a research and
explain.
Research is Empirical because research uses
empirical evidence. Researcher collect data through
direct experience or observation. They Relies on
practical experience. Research is Cyclical process. It
starts with a problem and ends with problem.

Activity 3:
1. Why Quantitative Research is prone to
manipulation?
Qualitative Research is prone to
manipulation because data can change. If
the researcher is not contented with the
result of research the researcher can
change it to get the outcome that they
want.
2.If you want to generate new theory, what
type of research is applicable? Quantitative
Research or Qualitative Research? Why?
The best type of research to generate new
theory is Quantitative Research because in
quantitative research, researcher has a lot
of respondents and more data to gather,
the more data to gather the more it is easy
to generate theory.
3.If you want to validate the previously
constructed theory, what type of theory is
applicable? Why?
The best type of research to validate a
theory is Quantitative Research because
Quantitative Research is more specific,
objective, fast, focus, and acceptable.
4.Differentiate “Inductive Approach “and
“Deductive Approach” in conducting a
research.”
Inductive approach aims at developing a
theory while Deductive approach aim at
testing an existing developing theory.
5.Expain. “Research can be replicated any
time but its finding can never be
duplicated.’
When studies are replicated and achieve
the same or similar results as the original
study, it gives greater validity to findings.
Findings cannot be duplicated because it is
on its own the finding should stay original
no duplication to avoid hoax.

Activity 4:
1. What are the strength of Quantitative
Research?
The following are the Strength of
Quantitative Research; Qualitative Research
can Test and validate the already
constructed theories about how and why
phenomena occur, Quantitative Research
test hypotheses that are constructed
before the data are collected, Quantitative
Research can generalize research findings
and it can be replicated on many different
populations and sub-populations,
Qualitative Research is useful for obtaining
data that allow quantitative prediction
about significant events, Quantitative
Research provide precise, quantitative
numerical data, Quantitative Research may
have higher credibility with many people in
power administrations, politicians, people
who fund the research program),
Qualitative Research involves data analysis
which is relatively less time consuming since
it can use statistical software, Qualitative
Research involves data collection using
some quantitative method which are
relatively quick, Qualitative Research
Involves Difficulty in data analysis, and lastly
Qualitative Research requires extra
resources be analyze the findings/ results.
2.Specify the two weakness of Quantitative
Research and explain each.
Doing a Quantitative Research is time
consuming because the data will be words
and description unlike qualitative research
which can easily get the data by number of
your survey. Quantitative Research had
limited outcome. Qualitative research
method includes structured questionnaire
with close ended questions. It leads to
limited outcomes outlined in the proposal.
3.Why is Qualitative Research personally
engaged?
Qualitative Research demand immersion to
a certain field. Plus, Qualitative Research
require personal interviews with variables
and participants of the study.
4.Qualitatative Research is also known as
statistical research. Why?
Qualitative research is also know as
Statistical Research because it uses
statistical methods.
5.Compare and contrast Qualitative
Research and Quantitative Research
