Capitalization Rules LP
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
a. Distinguish the rules of capitalization;
b. Edit the incorrect words in the song lyric in accordance to capitalization rules and perform
the song inside the class,
c. Show teamwork and cooperation in presenting the class activity.

Motivation
Group Activity: Exhibit images of super heroes through power point presentation and
let the pupils recognize the following super heroes to be presented. Thereafter
recognizing, ask the pupils to jot down on the board the names of the super heroes
and observe the use of capitalization. Make the recognizing portion as a competition
to raise pupils’ interests.
B. Activity Proper
1. Discuss the Rules of Capitalization.
1. The first word of a sentence
EXAMPLE:
Jean is a nice girl.
2. Proper Nouns
Names of a particular person, place or thing and that usually begins with a capital
letter.
EXAMPLE:
I received a gift from Uncle George, but not from my other uncle.
3. Major words in titles of books and songs
EXAMPLE:
Have you read Melville’s great novel, Moby Dick?
EXCEPTION - Do not capitalize short prepositions, conjunctions, or articles
unless they are the first word of the title.
D. Generalization
In this lesson, the pupils learned to hone their skills in detecting words with
incorrect use of capitalization. Also, they will get factual information regarding to
collaborative activities being given.
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Reconstruct the following sentences below according to the rules of capitalization.
1. maria’s house is clean.
2. Bucas Grande was one of the most glorious places i ever known.
3. Ronnie and rico were good friends.
4. cebu is the queen city of the South.
5. The closest planet to the sun is mercury.
V. Assignment
Direction: Correct the corresponding sentences in the table that consist words with incorrect
use of capitalization. Write the words with correct use of capitalization in the space provided.
