This document provides last-minute additions, known compatibility issues,

and troubleshooting information to help you use Stem Creator.

1.2. System Requirements for Stem Creator

• Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 (latest Service Pack, 32/64 Bit)

• 900MB free disk space

1.3. Uninstalling the Previous Stem Creator Beta

Before installing the latest version of Stem Creator beta, the previous
version should be removed. The previous betas were not released with an
installer, so the previous version must be thrown away manually. This
simply requires:

Mac
Just move the previous StemCreator app to the Trash and empty the
Trash.

Windows
The previous beta was distributed as a ZIP file which contained a folder
which contained sub-folders for the 32- and 64-bit versions of the app.
Simply move this whole folder (with all sub-folders) to the Recycle Bin and
empty the Recycle Bin.

1.4. Installing Stem Creator 1.0

Stem Creator 1.0 is delivered in two formats which have their own
installation methods.

Mac
Stem Creator for Mac is delivered as a Disk Image (DMG) file. Just
double-click the .dmg file to mount it. You will first need to accept the
terms of the End User License Agreement before the image will mount.
Once mounted, the disk image will open and you can simply drag the
Stem Creator application to the “Applications” folder shortcut on its right.
Stem Creator will be copied to your Applications folder and you can then
unmount the disk image. Simply double-click the Stem Creator app in the
Applications folder to launch the application.

Windows
Stem Creator for Windows is delivered as a .zip file which contains two
separate installer files. Extract the .zip file and then double-click either the
32-bit installer or the 64-bit installer (whichever matches your operating
system). Follow the directions of the installer and Stem Creator will be
installed into the appropriate Program Files folder. The installer will also
make application shortcuts in the Start Menu including an Uninstall option
and a “Compatibility Mode” version of the application (please see the
“Known Issues” section for a description of Compatibility Mode).
2. What’s New in Stem Creator 1.0
Stem Creator 1.0 is the first public release which includes the following
feature addition from the betas:

2.1. New Meter Ballistics

The behaviors of the level meters have been improved with new ballistics,
and the same metering technique is now used for all meters and sources.

3. Known Issues in Stem Creator 1.0

3.1. Compatibility Mode for Windows

There is a known OpenGL issue with the Intel drivers for the Intel HD 3000
chipset used in some computers. It appears Intel will not fix this issue, so a
special “Compatibility Mode” version of Stem Creator is also installed
which will cause the Stem Creator to run using DirectX instead. The
Compatibility Mode version can be found in a sub-folder within the Stem
Creator folder in the Start Menu. This version only needs to be used if the
normal version crashes.

3.2. Only AAC Encoding currently supported

This version of Stem Creator does not provide any audio encoding options
during export. Stem files are always created using AAC audio encoding at
256kbps VBR except when using Apple Lossless (ALAC) files as inputs; in
this case, an ALAC-quality Stem file will be made.

3.3. Export Failures on Windows with Network Drives

There is a known issue that Export will fail if the input audio files are
located on a network drive. Please copy the audio files onto a local drive
before loading them into Stem Creator, then Export will work correctly.
