Tybalt
◦ Why was Tybalt killed? What happens in this scene?
◦ Tybalt instigates a fight with Romeo, but Romeo tries to deescalate the
situation due to Romeo being Tybalt's brother-in-law (secretly)
◦ Romeo tells Tybalt that he wishes to love Tybalt – hinting at his secret
marriage
◦ Mercutio gets involved and states that if Romeo wont fight Tybalt, then he

◦ Romeo tries to protect his best friend and starts fighting alongside Mercutio

Death
◦ Grief stricken, Juliet wants to run away.
◦ Friar comes up with a plan to get Romeo back, so Juliet and Romeo can run
away together
◦ Friar gives Juliet a potion that will simulate death (puts her in a coma)
◦ He sends word of Juliet's “death” to Romeo
◦ Romeo, grief stricken, buys a poison and plans to kiss Juliet one last time
before ending his own life.
◦ Juliet wakes up right after Romeo poisons himself, and in her grief, stabs herself
with his daggar.
