Technical Data Sheet: Flange Stick Lubricant

FSL is a solid lubricant designed to reduce noise, wear, and friction between train wheels and rails. It transfers from wheel flanges to the gauge face and corner, lowering the coefficient of friction to 0.10. This substantially reduces wear and noise. FSL can be used alone or with another Whitmore product and is applied using spring-loaded applicators to prevent cross-contamination. It provides superior lubrication for rail transit vehicles and machinery.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

FSL
FLANGE STICK LUBRICANT

Whitmore’s FSL is a solid lubricant that is specifically designed to BENEFITS:

provide optimum lubrication to the wheel flange and rail gauge
face. FSL helps reduce noise levels and wear on the gauge face, • NOISE LEVELS – stops or substantially reduces high pitch
gauge corner, and wheel flange. flange squeal

During normal rolling, FSL transfers from the wheel flange to • WEAR – reduces or eliminates gauge face and flange wear
gauge face/corner and lubricates both surfaces. It reduces the
coefficient of friction to as low as 0.10. The result is a substantial • QUIET – smoother, quieter ride for transit customers
reduction in wear on the gauge face, gauge corner, and the wheel
flange. • CLEAN – provides clean and dry lubrication onboard
lubrication
FSL can be utilized alone or on a dual bracket with Whitmore’s
TSFM. The products are typically applied using spring-loaded • INTERLOCK – includes a round interlocking feature to
applicators that prevent cross-contamination. TSFM & FSL perform prevent Nib fallout
very dissimilar functions, therefore each has a unique size/shape
with corresponding applicators to eliminate improper application
• LOW CONSUMPTION – 1”/1500 miles, 25 mm/2400 km

APPLICATIONS:

FSL provides superior lubrication at the wheel-flange and rail

gauge face. It is designed for rail transit vehicles and track
machinery but is suitable for other industrial applications requiring
control of friction.
