Mechatronics Assignment - 1 Done by - Siddharth (1710110330) Q1)

This document discusses a pneumatic system assignment. It includes two figures, one showing a pneumatic system with a single acting cylinder controlled by a manually operated 3/2 valve, and another showing a system that uses feedback to move the cylinder back and forth. It then lists and describes the key elements in the system: a compressor to generate compressed air, an air service unit to clean the air, a single acting cylinder that uses air pressure to actuate in one direction and a spring to return, and a 3/2 way valve to direct air to the cylinder.

Q2)

Fig2: system, which takes feedback from the single acting cylinder and makes it go
back and forth.

The elements used are as follows:

 Compressor: An air compressor is a device that converts power (using an electric motor,

diesel or gasoline engine, etc.) into potential energy stored in pressurized air (i.e.,
compressed air). By one of several methods, an air compressor forces more and more air
into a storage tank, increasing the pressure.

 Air Service Unit: This is present after a compressor in a pneumatic circuit. The function of
this system is to remove dust particles, moisture, humidity etc. from the compressed air.
There several parts in an air service unit, which is also, called an air preparation system.

 Single Acting Cylinder: A single acting cylinder works with compressed air to actuate
the piston in one direction and spring force to return to the base position. Work can be
performed in the air driven direction. The cylinder has one port that is used to both supply
and vent compressed air.

 3/2 Way Valve Manually Operated: Three-way, two-position valves consist of three ports

connected through passages within a valve body. The valves pressurize and exhaust one

pressurized air to the cap-end side of the cylinder.
