Solve correctly each of the following problems:  (Submit the screenshot of your answers with
solutions. No solution and no student's name, no points.)
1.  Find the mean of the following data.
(a) 2.2, 10.2, 14.7, 5.9, 4.9, 11.1, 10.5
Mean : 8.5
(b) 11/4, 21/2, 51/2, 31/4, 21/2.
Mean: 3
2. Find the mean of first 5 prime numbers.
Prime numbers: 2,3,5,7,11
Mean: 5.6
3. The mean of 8, 11, 6, 14, x and 13 is 66. Find the value of the observation x.
(8 + 11 + 6 + 14 + x + 13)/6 = 66

8 + 11 + 6 + 14 + x + 13 = 396
X = 396 – 52
X = 344

4. Find the mean of the following distribution.

(a) The age of 20 boys in a locality is given below.

Age in Years 12 10 15 14 8

Number of Boys 5 3 2 6 4

Mean: (12(5) + 10(3) + 15(2) + 14(6) + 8(4) )/ 20 =

60 + 30 + 30 + 84 + 32 = 236/ 20 = 11.8
5. Find the mode of the following data.
(a) 12, 8, 4, 8, 1, 8, 9, 11, 9, 10, 12, 8 = 8
(b) 15, 22, 17, 19, 22, 17, 29, 24, 17, 15 = 17
(c) 0, 3, 2, 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 42, 1, 2, 0 = 3
(d) 1, 7, 2, 4, 5, 9, 8, 3 = no mode
6. The runs scored in a cricket match by 11 players is as follows:
7, 16, 121, 51, 101, 81, 1, 16, 9, 11, 16
Find the mean, mode, median of this data.
Mean = 39.09
Median = 16
Mode = 16
8. The weights in kg of 10 students are given below:
39, 43, 36, 38, 46, 51, 33, 44, 44, 43
Find the mode of this data. Is there more than 1 mode? If yes, why?
Mode is 43 and 44. Mode will tell you the most number of occurences and since 43 and 44
appear twice at the same time they are bothe considered mode of the given data.
9. The marks obtained by 40 students out of 50 in a class are given below in the table.

Marks (in $) 42 36 30 45 50

Number of Students 7 10 13 8 2

Find the mode of the above data.

The mode is 30.

10. Find the median of the following data.

(a) 27, 39, 49, 20, 21, 28, 38 = Median: 28
(b) 10, 19, 54, 80, 15, 16 = Median: 17. 2
(c) 47, 41, 52, 43, 56, 35, 49, 55, 42 = Median : 47
(d) 12, 17, 3, 14, 5, 8, 7, 15 = Median : 10
