In the project triangle, also called the iron triangle, there are three key constraints (triple
constraint):
Name: Ahmad Athar Roll #: 2018-MBA-2.5-350 Class:

Scenario:

Impact of changes:

Changes and constraints interact with each other:

Building a wall:
Scope: 2m (h) by 5m (l)
Time: 1 week

Cost: RS- 100000

Bricklayer Labor injured after two days’ work due to accidently dropped from Height of
10feet.
Question: What will be the options available for Project Manager in order to execute the
task within Scope, Time, Cost, and Quality? Please elaborate in the form of Iron triangle in
case of options available with Project Manager? (Marks-2.5)

Scenario:

Impact of changes:

Changes and constraints interact with each other:

Building a wall:
Scope: 2m (h) by 5m (l)
Time: 1 week (Fixed Deadline)

Cost: RS- 100000

Scope is Revised :

Scope: 3m (h) by 5m (l)

Time: 1 week (Fixed Deadline)
Cost: _____________________

Question: What will be Impact on Cost and Scope? Draw an Iron Triangle to Show all
Constraints (Marks-2.5)
Scenario:

Impact of changes:
Name: Ahmad Athar Roll #: 2018-MBA-2.5-350 Class:

Changes and constraints interact with each other:

De Havilland's Comet 1952
13 Crashes
426 Fatalities
Question: Why? Please Explain with Reason in terms of Project Management Constraints.
Which Constraint impacted much more than others? (Marks-2.5)

Final Answer Box: Put your final answer here. Describe or explain it in one complete sentence.
(Do not just write a number.)

Scenario # 01
In normal situations our triple constraints triangle must be balance
means it should have equally impact of all constraints. But if any one of
the constraints changes with respect to any reason than it will affect the
other constraints also to keep triple constraints balanced. In given
scenario Our one resource has been decreased due to which
1.Scope will decrease 2. Cost will increase 3. Time will also be increased

Building a wall:
Scope: 2m (h) by 5m (l)
Time: 1 week
Cost: Rs-100000
Bricklayer injured after two days’ work.
■ Option 1: Await his/her recovery
■Option 2: Hire another bricklayer at short notice

➢ So to ensure the product can be completed all of our required features,

we need to be a little flexible with our resources (and budget), and
schedule (deadlines).
➢ Overtime work by employee may its answer

Where the customer gives no flexibility in the project.

• Cancel the project – this is not an agile project.
• This should be run using a waterfall methodology such as PRINCE2 (and
even they are likely to fail without some flexibility)

Scenario # 02
In which a customer asks for delivery through a certain date however is
bendy in scope and value (Cost).
• Work in absolute business cost order – increases the wide variety of user
tales completed in a given sprint (excessive business value = simple,
moderate-high priority)
• Implement dash length – your mission might be described by a set
number of sprints, and lengthening a dash will push out your very last
date.
Building a wall:
Scope: 2m (h) by 5m (l)
Time: 1 week (fixed deadline)
Cost: Rs-100000
Revised scope: 3m (h) by 5m (l)
Name: Ahmad Athar Roll #: 2018-MBA-2.5-350 Class:

Time: 1 week (fixed deadline)

Cost: Rs-150000=15*10000

Cost of the project will be increased up to 150000

1. Scope Increased (Features & Functionality)
2. Resources needed will be increased (Budget, Human)
3. Cost of project will be Increased
Scenario # 03
In 1954, the Comets began suffering problems, with three of them breaking up
during mid-flight in accidents. During its service, the Comet was involved
in 13 fatal crashes which resulted in 426 fatalities. On 10 January 1954, the
first Comet produced broke up in mid-air and crashed into the Mediterranean.
Why?
Constraints Reasons of Airplane Crashing
▪ Low Quality of Project
▪ High Risk
▪ Early Finishing of Project
Name: Ahmad Athar Roll #: 2018-MBA-2.5-350 Class:

▪ Not existence of quality control testing department

January 10 – BOAC Flight 781, a de Havilland Comet flying from Rome to London
on the last leg of a flight from Singapore, disintegrates in mid-air, when metal
fatigue from repeated pressurization cycles compromises the fuselage, killing
the 29 passengers and six crew.
• Low Quality of Project
• Less cost used in project
• Minimum time used to complete the project
