In a mobile manufacturing company, management decided to create a unique water-proof


mobile phone. For that they put together a group of research analyst. After a year of
research, research analyst group came up with unique design for the mobile – what they

executed was a Project?


Similarly, With the design blueprint, mobile manufacturing unit started assembling all parts

and produced 100 mobiles each day what they executed was an Operation?

Scenario # 01
Given scenario is project a Project in broad thinking’s because of
following reasons:
▪ A project is Unique in nature
▪ A project is temporary
▪ A project has unique out put
▪ A Project out put may be a product, service or a result.
▪ In given scenario output is a result.

Scenario # 02
Project
▪ Research conducted by analyst is a project. It would be
conducted only one time and gives output results.

Operation
▪ Production of 100 mobiles is an operation. Operation is a
repeating process. Operations do not produce new things
but they are necessary to maintain and sustain the system.

Scenario # 03
Project
➢ A new model designing and completion is a project because it has
been done for unique purpose. It gives an output product which is a
car in given scenario.
Operation
➢ Actual assembly of cars is an operation. Production of cars again and
again is called operation. Operations are repetitive in nature and comes
from assembly line.
