NARRATIVE REPORT ON BRIGADA ESKWELA


SY 2016 – 2017

Brigada Eskwela is one of the school activities that were implemented by the DepEd for the
benefit of all students in our school. This aimed to prepare the school facilities in the next school year,
through the joint effort of teachers, parents and stakeholders who engaged their time in fulfilling their
roles in the upkeep of the school.
As an educator, I believe that environment plays a big part in students’ learning. And so, if
classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school facilities,
education is hindered.
Last May 30, 2016, the ISABEL NATIONAL COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL held a parade that signalled
the start of Brigada Eskwela. After the parade a short program followed. The presence of different
groups of volunteers during the parade was acknowledged. Short orientation about the mechanics of
the 6-day activity was given. Finally the opening of the Brigada Eskwela was announced. The willing,
ready and able brigade included zealous teachers, enthusiastic parents, excited students, and other
concern people of the community. Our scheduled Brigada Eskwela for the Grade – 8 students was on
June 01, 2016 in which several tasks were rendered. We started at 7:30 in the morning. We were
working on minor repairs in the classroom like cleaning the ceilings, walls, floor of the room by section
followed by repainting the bulletin board, unit board and display board. Improvement of school ground
was also done by weeding, landscaping, replanting, hauling and cleaning. At 3:00 o’clock in the
afternoon students were oriented and instructed on some important things to do and to prepare when
classes start. We end at 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
Education to be effective is to have the support and cooperation of all parents, teachers,
students and stakeholders for the improvement of school facilities. Improvement of the school does not
end for it is a year-round undertaking to give the students an environment conducive to learning.
