Proposal X

This proposal is for an animation targeted at 5-12 year olds. It will tell the story of a man in a boat battling sea creatures to rescue a princess in a castle by the sea, though she ends up not needing saving. The animation will use bright colors and nonverbal characters to appeal to its young audience. It will be uploaded to YouTube given research found most children in that age range use the platform.

Proposal

Animation

Concept A man in a boat sets out to save the princess in the castle isolated by the sea.
He battles against sea creatures as well as harsh weather conditions. When he reaches
the princess, it turns out she doesn’t need saving.

Why are you producing this production? I chose to produce this because I think
magic is something that would interest and appeal to the age group of my target
audience. I plan for my mise-en-scene to be bright colours with coloured card and for
the characters to be easily understood without dialogue so that it would attract my
target audience.

Deadline 18th of January 2020

Target audience is Five to twelve year olds.

What they want to see I think kids enjoy fantasy and fairytails. Children are very
imaginative and I think they enjoy things that fuel their imagination.

What you are creating based on that research The majority of films and tv I
looked at with the same target audience involved magic or some type of mystical
theme.

Where this production will be aired (why? – based on target audience) I will
upload my production to YouTube, because in my research I found that most 5-12
year olds use YouTube and get quite a bit of their media from it.
Proposal
Music video

Concept A girl dresses up in her mothers’ clothes and imagines herself in a fashion
show. Parallel editing switches back and forth between what looks like a proper
catwalk to just the girl in her parents’ room surrounded in a mess of piles of clothes.
The girl will flip through fashion magazines for ‘inspiration’ and she’ll dress her dog
up too for comedic effect. At the end the mum will walk in to see the mess that she’d
made.

Why are you producing this production? I feel like most young kids practically
live in their animation so the production will be familiar and relatable for them.

What they want to see I think that kids want to see things that they can relate to,
and I also think they enjoy things that make them laugh, which I hope to achieve with
my production.

What you are creating based on that research In my primary research, the kids in
my focus group thought that my idea is relatable and something that they do/used to
do.

Where this production will be aired (why? – based on target audience) I will
upload my production to YouTube, because in my research I found that most 5-12
year olds use YouTube and get quite a bit of their media from it.
