Macs. Upload your work by licking the blue "Submit Assignment" button.

Important note about plagiarism

Prompt 1, Required, up to 20 points possible
Compose a one­paragraph formal analysis on one of the works of art or architecture that you analyzed in detail in weeks
1­8 (SLO A). In your analysis,

Identify and describe at least three elements of art or principles of art in the individual work of art 
Elements of art include: point, line, texture, shape/form, space/depth, color
Principles of art include: visual balance (symmetry, asymmetry, radial symmetry, contrast); repetition, pattern, and rhythm;
scale and proportion; emphasis; time and motion; unity and variety

Your paragraph should address ALL of the following points:

1. Include the name of the work and the name of the artist (if known) at the beginning of your response, (up to 5 points)
2. Analyze and describe in detail at least three three elements of art or principles of art. (up to 5 points each, up to 15 points
total)

To ensure that you turn in your best work, be sure to:

Check peer and/or instructor summary feedback on previous relevant coursework
Organize your paper into no more than 1 paragraph 
Underline or make bold the three (3) elements and principles of design that you describe 
Make sure your descriptions show that you know what the terms mean (For example, you don't just write that the pyramid is
symmetrical. You explain that the pyramid is symmetrical because one side mirrors the other in form and proportion).

Prompt 2, Required, up to 20 points possible
Compose a short, 2 paragraph mini­essay on one of the works of art or architecture that you analyzed in detail in this
course so far.  In this essay, you will evaluate the work of art in relation to the context and historical background in which it was
created. (SLO C, 30 points total)

Your essay should address ALL of the following topics:

1. Include the name of the work, the name of the artist (if known), and the historical period/date at the beginning of your
response (up 5 points possible).
2. Clearly state the purpose or function of the work of art (up 5 points possible).
3. Explain with reference to formal aspects of the work of art/architecture and course lessons and materials how the
work fulfilled this function. For example, you may wish to explain how the artist applied the elements and principles of art
or chose materials so that the work of art communicated a message, solved a problem, or responded to the conditions of its
time (up to 10 points possible).

To ensure that you turn in your best work, be sure to:

Check peer and/or instructor summary feedback on your original writing on this work of art or architecture
Organize your paper into no more than 2 paragraphs 
Cite the homework reading, textbook page, or scholarly internet resources you use to help you answer this question by using
BOTH in text citations and a works cited list/bibliography (see links to how to cite sources above).
