it may be good or bad depending upon its use.”
In past, computers were only being made for arithmetic calculations and to solve mathematics problems.
Later it was used in big companies and in business to save data. Now-a-days, computer are common and
everywhere due to great advancement in the field of computers technology. Computers have
revolutionized the society.
Good Impacts of Computer on Society:
Now peoples are shopping online and conducting business, students are getting online education and
informative material. Now-a-days, people are communicating by computer networks and getting the
benefits in following areas;
Business
Education
Finance
Social interaction producing widespread sharing of knowledge and wealth across the world.
Computer and technology has very effective role in controlling our economic and political values.
Technology promises more and more information for less effort. “Computer is not about computer any
more, it is about living.” With touch of PC, s, you check for any pressing phone, fax or emails messages
delivered overnight.
Before Computers people use books for reading. Now, usually they use networking computers to read
books or newspaper. Ten of billions of words pass through internet daily. On an internet story, every
reader can add new material. It is not ignorable that computer has brought revolutionary changes to
society regarding education. Students must become active learners, by getting access to information
through network, learning to collaborate and to adapt changing situations and roles and challenging them
to collect, analyze or organized that information.
Bad Impacts of Computer on Society:
The development of technology has grown up problem rather than solving these problems. In society, the
changes that computer will being may be as harmful as beneficial. The apparent benefits of computer
have outweighed the potential harms but keep in mind that computer technology has done nothing to
lessen our social problems, such as;
Economic inequality
Environmental degradation
Countries relationship
Non-interaction of people and decline of cities
The communication that take place over computer tend to decrease actual human contact, their use may
weaken people’s sense of community and widen existing social division.
When we put light on negative effects of computer on education, the first problem has arisen is that
computer may actually hamper real learning. Education requires interaction good teachers and motivated
students and get involved in the way of relationship. Getting information from computer networks has
missed the context and connection that only an experience teacher can show or deliver them.
Before computer and telephone, more people know the pleasure of writing and receiving letters, the small
joy of finding a handwritten envelope in mailbox from friend or relatives. Before T.V and computers,
people had a stronger sense of community, great attachment to families, friends and neighborhoods. Our
meeting, chit chat or conversation with people has decreased due to computers that has glued us to our
homes. We have started gossips on networks rather than Live face to face gossips. The age of software
will offer more home banking, online shopping that unplug us from physical intact. The human to human
contact is getting decline around the world. Via computer, you can roam the world without leaving your
home. Conducting business out of office via a computer become your virtual office. Computer and
networks isolate us from others.
Computer will create unemployment. Computer are taking place of labors in industries. Technology will
replace and displace workers. Computer technology reduces worker productivity. Computer and
technology affect right to privacy. It remote terrorism. Many terrorists guide missiles through computers.
Cybercrimes is increasing day to day. Computer meant to make life easy, comfortable and enjoyable but
people take it in abusive and complex manner.
To summarize and conclude that, there’s no denying that computers have the potential to perform
inspiring feats. Now-a-days, Computer is playing a big role in young generation to perform computer
related multi-tasks. But it is also true that computer is a big reason in spoiling young generation too. Thus,
with increasing pace of advancement, enhancement and modernity, Computer has revolutionized and
changed the society a lot.
