Sapiens “A Brief History of Humankind” recommended by Bill Gates and Barack Obama is a book that
makes you feel smarter after you have read it. The author Yuval Noah Harari tries to put human history from
its origin to the present time in just about 500 pages and that is a noteworthy attempt. Yes, it is impossible to
describe the whole human history comprehensively in just this much pages and so what the author has
basically written, is his interpretation of the direction in which humankind of the is moving.
The book starts by giving a background on the origin of human species and then moves in a way describing the
milestones in the journey of humankind in chronological order. The stages as described by the author are: The
Cognitive Revolution (occurred 70,000 years ago), The Agricultural Revolution (occurred 12,000 years ago ),
The Unification of Humankind (occurred 5,000 years ago), The Scientific revolution( 500 years ago). These
revolutions brought out drastic changes, which changed the shape of the world, making it look as it is now.
This book provides one many mind-opening insights such as how was an animal evolved from apes able to
rule the entire earth, what was that core ability in human that enabled him to create nations, muti billion-dollar
corporations and money itself. Harari writes that the ability of a human to imagine to create myths and fiction
is the greatest contributing factor to the order of the world as we experience, and if one puts his/her mind deep
