 INTRODUCTION
Thermodynamics study about the interchange of heat and
work between a system and the surroundings which occurs
when the system undergoes a process. Thermodynamics
also concerned about the changes in the properties of fluid.
Most thermodynamics substances such as gases and vapors
are often referred as P-V-T substances.
Marcet boiler is used to investigate the relationship
between the pressure and the temperature of saturated
steam in equilibrium with water at all temperature levels
between the atmospheric pressure and 10 bars. The
measured value of slope of the graph (dT / dP) obtained
from the experiment results can be compared to the
theoretical value determined through the calculation from
the steam table.

 OBJECTIVES

1. To investigate the relationship between

(pressure) and (temperature) of a saturated
steam, in equilibrium with (water).
2. To understand the concept of relationship of
pressure and temperature steam in equilibrium
with water.
3. To plotted the curve of saturation pressure of
the steam.
 Theory
Marcet Boiler (Model:HE169) has been developed
for investigating the relationship between the
pressure and temperature of saturated steam, in
equilibrium with water, at all pressures between
atmospheric and 10 bar (abs) (150lb/in^2).

An ideal gas can be characterized by three state

variables :
1) Absolute Pressure (P)
2) Volume (V)
3) Absolute Temperature (T)

The relationship between them may be deduced

from kinetic theory and is called the Ideal Gas law.
The ideal gas law was originally determined
empirically and is simply:

(PV=nRT)

T: absolute temperature.
P: absolute pressure.
V:Volume.
N: amount of substance.
R: ideal gas.
If a gas behaves exactly as the ideal gas laws would
predict it to behave in terms of the volume, pressure,
moles and temperature, then the gas is said to be an ideal
gas. On the other hand, the gas deviates from Ideal Gas
behaviour, then the gas is said to be acting like a „real
gas‟.

 Discussion

In the experiment the pressure and temperature are

compared by the graphs and tabulated results as for the
pressure and temperature are compared and it was almost
constant the rough out the experiment.
The result showed that by comparing each test, error made
during the experiment can be analysed and support the
discussion effetely. The error percentage should be around
10- 20 % because there's small difference between the
actual and ideal value's we got.
Source of experiment error:
1) Measurement reading accuracy .
2) Room temperature and pressure .
3) The stability of the materials.
We use distilled water in this experiment because distilled water
prevents corrosion in the vessel and impurities in other water
increase boiling point (D.W boiling point is 100c° but other
water with impurity reaches 110c°). we use over flow valve to
pure extra water in the vessel.
