____ Independent Loops
1. KIRCHHOFF’S LAW
a. KVL – Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law
- The algebraic sum of all voltages around a closed path (or loop) is zero.
b. KCL – Kirchhoff’s Current Law
- The algebraic sum of currents at any node (or a closed boundary) is zero.
NOTE:
SAMPLE PROBLEMS:
1. Find the currents and voltages in the circuit using Kirchhoff’s Law.
2. For the circuit shown. Find V1 and V2 using Kirchhoff’s and Ohm’s Law.
3I
This method involves a set of independent loop or mesh currents assigned to as many meshes as
exists in the circuit. The magnitude of the current passing through in each resistor is the algebraic
sum of the mesh currents passing through it. This method is only applicable to a circuit that is
planar.
A mesh is a loop which does not contain any other loops within it.
A super mesh results when two meshes have a (dependent or independent) current source in
common.
SAMPLE PROBLEMS:
1. Find the currents and voltages in the circuit using Maxwell Mesh Analysis.
2. For the circuit shown. Find V1 and V2 using Maxwell Mesh Analysis.
