Terminology Explanation
Misrah First line of any sher
Sher 2 Misrah make one sher
Matlah Literal meaning: Talooh honay ki jagah
First sher of any ghazal/qaseeda
Hussan e Matlah 2nd sher of ghazal/qaseeda that comes after matlah
Maqtah Literal meaning: Katah karna/Katna
Last sher of any ghazal/qaseeda in which poet uses its takhalus
Radeef Last word of sher’s which is similar (Suno aisa nahi kartay – Safar tanha nahi kartay)
Qafiya Similar sound words before radeef, (Suno aisa nahi kartay – Safar tanha nahi kartay)
Tashbee Words used for giving tashbee: Ki Tarha, Jaisa, Manind
Wo sher ki tarha bahadur hai
Ista-ara Literal meaning: Udhar lena
Wo sher hai
Saktah , Shortest pause
Waqfah ; A little longer pause than saktah
Tafseeliyah :- Explain something. Name of English months:- Jan,feb,march,April
Istafamiya ? When asking question
Nadaiya ! To address someone, call someone. Mery ham watno!
Fajaiya ! Feelings, happy, sad, pain
Wawain “ ” Said indirectly
Qousain ( ) To specify something, Naveed(sub inspector) is my friend.
