TITLE:
Measure to video output failure

MODEL AFFECTED:
SSD-4000

SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:


The equipments that are ruining on software version ver.2.1.0 ~ ver.2.1.4 with EP4768** VPU
board.
M01056~M01063, M01085~M01095, M01100~M02600, M02751~M02800
(Excluding the systems already upgraded to Ver.3 or after)

PURPOSE:
It is to inform the problem of video output and the solution for this problem.

SYMPTOM:
It could not printout or record to VCR occasionally, because of video synchronized signal suddenly
stopped.
On software version ver.2.1.0 ~ ver.2.1.4, when you press “EXT”, “NEW PATIENT” or “PRESET”
button on operation panel, the system reconfigures to LSI (Large Scale Integration) for video signal
mounted on VPU board EP4768 via I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) bus. However the system wrongly
reconfigures to LSI and happens incorrect data communication on I2C bus occasionally.
Since software version 3 and after, this phenomenon never happen because the system reconfigures
to LSI only at system starting up.

ITEMS OF REQUIRED PARTS:


Update floppy disk for ver.2.1.0~ver.2.1.2, FD-4000-39-1, 1set (Two floppy disks)
Update floppy disk for ver.2.1.3~ver.2.1.4, FD-4000-40-1, 1set (Two floppy disks)

This kit is for multiple use as well (You can use one kit for multiple machines).

SOLUTION:
Update the software by FD-4000-39-1 or FD-4000-40-1 depend on current software version.

‰ In the case of system is running on ver.2.1.0 ~ ver.2.1.2


(1) Confirmation of the software version before upgrade
Display the MAINTENANCE screen by means of pressing PRESET button, then press
Ctrl and S key on the full keyboard at the same time.
Confirm that the “System” is displayed as the range of “00-2.1.0 ~ 00-2.1.2” at the
“Software “ section in the SYSTEM1 screen.

(2) Software upgrade


Display the MAINTENANCE screen in the same way as the above mentioned (1).
Select “UP GRADE”. (Move the arrow cursor to “UP GRADE” and press SET switch.)
a) When you select “Version up”, the following message is displayed.
Insert Disk #1 and press "SET"
Quit: Press "CANCEL"

b) Insert the floppy disk (FD-4000-39-1-1) and press the SET switch.
The following message is displayed.
Now Loading…

The upgrade of SSD-4000:V2.1.2.2 is begun.
Floppy disk is 2 sheets in total.

c) Select “Start”, then the following message is displayed.

Old version is being removed…

d) After completion of copy, the following message is displayed.

Insert the floppy disk (2/2)

Insert second floppy disk (FD-4000-39-1-2) and press OK button.

Select “NEXT”, then the following message is displayed.

f) Eject the floppy disk and turn the power off.

(3) Confirmation of the software version after upgrade


Display the MAINTENANCE screen in the same way as above(1). Confirm that the
“System” became “00-2.1.2.2” at the “Software “ section in the SYSTEM1 screen.

‰ In the case of system is running on ver.2.1.3 ~ ver.2.1.4


(1) Confirmation of the software version before upgrade
Display the MAINTENANCE screen by means of pressing PRESET button, then press
Ctrl and S key on the full keyboard at the same time.
Confirm that the “System” is displayed as the range of “00-2.1.3 ~ 00-2.1.4” at the
“Software “ section in the SYSTEM1 screen.

(2) Software upgrade


Display the MAINTENANCE screen in the same way as the above mentioned (1).
Select “UP GRADE”. (Move the arrow cursor to “UP GRADE” and press SET switch.)
a) When you select “Version up”, the following message is displayed.
Insert Disk #1 and press "SET"
Quit: Press "CANCEL"

b) Insert the floppy disk (FD-4000-40-1-1) and press the SET switch.
The following message is displayed.
