Course Name CSS1 Install and Configure Computers/ Set-up Computer Network
Course Description Qualification consists of competencies that must possess to
enable to install and configure computers systems, set-up computer
networks.
Number of Units for Lecture and Lecture – 2

Program Learning Outcome PLO 1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, technology
fundamentals, and a technology specialization to defined and
applied technology procedures, processes, systems, or
methodologies. In aid of systems design addressing identified
technology problems, conduct the following: identify
problems, conduct researches, investigations and
experiments, and come up with conclusions and solutions;
PLO 2. Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and
modern technology and IT tools, including, but not limited to,
prediction and modelling, to broadly defined technology-
related activities, with an understanding of the limitations;
PLO 3. Communicate effectively on broadly defined technology-
related activities with the technology affiliated community and
with the society at large, by being able to comprehend and
write effective reports and design documentation, make
effective presentations, and give and receive clear
instructions;
PLO 4. Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety,
legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities
relevant to technology practice;
PLO 5. Understand the impact of technology solutions in a societal
and environmental context, and demonstrate knowledge of

Course Outcome 1. Comprehend and resolve common desktop and network issue
2. Analyze common business functions and identify, design
develop appropriate information technology solutions( in web,
desktop, network and/database applications).
3. Learn future technologies through acquired foundation skills
and knowledge and employ them in new business
environment.
4. Design and develop software solutions for contemporary
business environment by applying appropriate problem solving
strategies.
Course Outline  Plan and prepare unit for assembly
 Identify and obtain materials necessary to complete the work and
check against system requirements

 Obtain tools, equipment and testing devices to carry out the work
and check for correct operation and safety
 Assemble following computer hardware according to established
OH & S policies and procedures and system requirements:
a. Motherboard and its components
b. Hard drives and its accessories
c. Power supply
d. Peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, cables
 Perform Basic Input Output System(BIOS) configuration based on
system requirements*
 Create portable bootable devices according to software
manufacturer’s instruction
 Prepare customized installers according to software utilization
guide and end-user agreement
 Install portable applications according to software user guide and
software license
 Install operating system according to established installation
procedure and end-user agreement
 Install and configure drivers of peripherals and devices according
to manufacturer’s instructions and OS installation procedures
 Check quality of work according to established procedures
 Install application software based on installation guides, end-user
agreement and license agreement
 Carry out variation in application software installation according to
manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements.
 Access and install software updates based on manufacturer’s
recommendations and requirements
 Test devices/systems/installation to determine whether they
conform to requirements
 Conduct stress test to ensure reliability of equipment
 Follow 5S and 3Rs according to environmental policies
 Complete and forward the documentation to appropriate personnel
and/or authority
