• Appropriation in art - is the use of pre-existing objects or images with little or no


transformation applied to them.

• The use of appropriation has played a significant role in the history of the arts (literary,
visual, musical and performing arts).

• Improvisation in art – can be defined as doing something without prior preparation,


there is a decision to act upon that may not necessarily be planned

KINDS OF APPROPRIATION IN ARTS

• MOTIF APPROPRIATION - The works that result from motif appropriation are easily
distinguishable from works produced by the culture from which the motifs are taken.

• DADAISM - is an artistic movement in modern art that started around World War I. Its
purpose was to ridicule the meaninglessness of the modern world. Its peak was 1916 to
