Radiator Cores (Folded Core)

Remove And Install Radiator Cores (Folded Core)

1. Drain the coolant from the engine.

2. Disconnect hose assembly (3) from the elbow.

3. Loosen the clamps that hold hoses (1) and (4). Move the hoses away from the radiator.

4. Remove the bolts the bolts that hold fan guard (2) to the radiator. Move the fan guard away from the
radiator.

5. Fasten a hoist to top tank (5) with tooling (A).

6. Remove all of the bolts that hold air conditioning condenser (6) to the top tank of the radiator.
7. Remove all of the bolts that hold top tank (5) to both of the side channels. Remove the top tank from the
radiator cores. The weight of the top tank is approximately 140 kg (308.0 lb).

8. Remove the rubber seals from the bottom of the top tank. Some of the seals may stay on the radiator cores.
Remove them also.

9. Remove two bolts (6), one at the rear not shown, from each core that is to be removed.

10. Remove the radiator core from the bottom tank.

11. Remove rubber seal (7) from the bottom tank.

12. Install the radiator cores in the reverse order of removal.

14. Lubricate all rubber seals (7) at the bottom and top of the cores with liquid soap just prior to assembly.

15. Before tightening bolts (6), adjust gap (X), at the front of the radiator, to 6.5 mm (.25 in) and gap (Y) at
the rear of the radiator to 2.0 ± 1.5 mm (.08 ± .06 in). The cores must not contact each other after
assembly.

16. Fill the cooling system with coolant and check for leaks. See the Maintenance Manual.
